Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
  2. Slide the cover latch to open the compartment.
  3. Insert the supplied Lithium-Ion battery into the compartment, ensuring the contacts align correctly.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.
  5. Connect the USB cable to the camera's USB port and the other end to the AC adapter.
  6. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet to begin charging. The charging indicator light will illuminate.
  7. Charging is complete when the indicator light turns off or changes color (refer to camera display for exact status).

Memory Card Installation

The Samsung ST76 uses Micro SD memory cards (up to 32 GB). A memory card is required to store photos and videos.

  1. Open the battery/memory card compartment cover.
  2. Insert the Micro SD card into the memory card slot with the gold contacts facing down, until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove the card, gently push it in until it springs out, then pull it from the slot.
  4. Close the compartment cover securely.

Operating the Camera

Basic Controls

Familiarize yourself with the camera's buttons and controls:

  • Power Button: Turns the camera on or off.
  • Shutter Button: Press halfway to focus, fully to take a picture.
  • Zoom Lever: Controls optical and digital zoom.
  • Mode Dial/Button: Selects shooting modes (e.g., Smart Auto, Program, Scene).
  • Menu Button: Accesses camera settings and options.
  • Directional Pad (D-Pad): Navigates menus and selects options.

Taking Photos

  1. Turn on the camera by pressing the Power button.
  2. Select your desired shooting mode using the Mode button/dial. "Smart Auto" is recommended for beginners.
  3. Frame your shot using the LCD screen.
  4. Press the Shutter button halfway down to allow the camera to focus. The focus frame will turn green when focus is achieved.
  5. Press the Shutter button fully down to capture the image.

Recording Videos

  1. Ensure the camera is in a video recording mode (if applicable, some models have a dedicated video button).
  2. Press the dedicated Video Record button (if present) or select video mode via the Mode button.
  3. Press the Shutter button (or dedicated record button) to start recording. A red recording indicator will appear on the screen.
  4. Press the same button again to stop recording.

Playback and Menu Navigation

To view your captured photos and videos:

  • Press the Playback button. Use the D-Pad to scroll through images.
  • To access camera settings, press the Menu button. Use the D-Pad to navigate through options and the OK button to select.
  • Options include image size, ISO sensitivity, white balance, flash settings, and more.

Cleaning the Camera

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the camera body. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water.
