1. Introduction and Overview

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your OM SYSTEM Olympus SP-620UZ 16MP Digital Camera. This camera features a 21x optical zoom, 16-megapixel sensor, and HD video recording capabilities, designed for capturing high-quality images and videos with ease.

2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure the following items are present:

• OM SYSTEM Olympus SP-620UZ Digital Camera
• 4 x AA batteries
• Lens cap
• USB cable (may be sold separately)
• Strap (may be sold separately)

2.2 Battery Installation

The camera operates on four AA batteries. To install:

1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the bottom of the camera.
2. Insert four AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2.3 Memory Card Installation

The camera supports SD and SDHC memory cards. To install:

1. Open the battery/memory card compartment cover.
2. Insert the SD/SDHC card into the slot with the label facing the correct direction until it clicks into place.
3. Close the compartment cover.

2.4 Attaching the Lens Cap

Place the lens cap over the front lens when the camera is not in use to protect it from dust and scratches. Note that the lens cap is designed to slide on and off and does not click into place. Remove the lens cap before powering on the camera.

3. Operating the Camera

3.1 Powering On/Off

Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera to power it on or off. The lens will extend when powered on.

3.2 Basic Photography

To take a picture:

1. Point the camera at your subject.
2. Press the shutter button halfway down to focus. The focus frame will turn green when focus is achieved.
3. Press the shutter button fully down to capture the image.

3.3 Zoom Function

Use the zoom lever located around the shutter button to adjust the optical zoom. Push the lever towards T (Telephoto) to zoom in, and towards W (Wide-angle) to zoom out. The camera features a 21x optical zoom and a 28mm wide-angle lens.

3.4 HD Video Recording

To record high-definition video:

1. Press the dedicated One-Touch HD Video button (red circle icon) on the back of the camera to start recording.
2. Press the button again to stop recording.

3.5 Using Shooting Modes and Magic Filters

The camera offers various shooting modes and Magic Art Filters to enhance your photos. Access these through the camera's menu system. Examples include:

• Sports Mode: Optimizes settings for capturing fast-moving subjects.
• Magic Art Filters: Apply creative effects like Watercolor and Reflection directly to your images.

3.6 Image Playback

Press the Playback button (triangle icon) on the back of the camera to view your captured photos and videos on the 3.0-inch LCD screen. Use the directional pad to navigate through your media.

4.1 Cleaning the Camera

To maintain optimal performance:

• Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body.
• For the lens and LCD screen, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution. Avoid harsh chemicals.
