Sony TA-SA200WR Wireless S-Air Surround Amplifier User Manual

Model: TA-SA200WR | Brand: Sony

1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Sony TA-SA200WR Wireless S-Air Surround Amplifier. The TA-SA200WR is designed to integrate seamlessly with compatible Sony Home Theater Systems (such as BDV-E470, BDV-E770W, BDV-T57, BDV-HZ970W) to provide wireless surround sound capabilities. It utilizes S-Air wireless communication technology for a clean and efficient audio setup.

2. Setup

Follow these steps to correctly set up your Sony TA-SA200WR amplifier and integrate it with your home theater system.

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Place the amplifier in a location that allows for proper ventilation and is within range of your main home theater system's S-Air transmitter. Ensure it is placed on a stable, flat surface.

Connect your passive surround speakers to the speaker terminals on the rear of the TA-SA200WR. Observe correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative) for optimal sound performance. The amplifier supports a speaker impedance of 3-16Ω.

2.3 Inserting the S-Air Transceiver Module

Insert the S-Air wireless transceiver module (e.g., EZW-RT10A) into the designated slot on the rear of the TA-SA200WR amplifier. Ensure it is firmly seated.

2.4 S-Air ID Setting and Pairing

Locate the S-Air ID switch on the rear of the amplifier (refer to Figure 2.2). Set the ID (A, B, or C) to match the S-Air ID setting on your main Sony home theater system. This ensures proper wireless communication between the units. Once both units are powered on and the IDs match, they should automatically pair. If pairing does not occur, refer to the troubleshooting section or your main system's manual for manual pairing instructions.

2.5 Power Connection

Connect the power cord from the TA-SA200WR to a standard AC outlet. The amplifier will enter standby mode.

3. Operating Instructions

Once the TA-SA200WR is set up and paired with your main home theater system, its operation is largely automatic.

3.1 Power On/Off

The amplifier will typically power on and off in conjunction with your main home theater system via the S-Air connection. You can also use the power button on the front of the unit for manual control.

3.2 Surround Sound Output

The TA-SA200WR receives audio signals wirelessly from your main system and amplifies them for the connected surround speakers. Ensure your main system is configured to output surround sound to the S-Air amplifier.

3.3 Surround Selector

On the rear panel (refer to Figure 2.2), there is a "Surround Selector" switch. This allows you to choose between "Surround" (for standard 5.1/7.1 setups where this unit handles rear channels) or "Surround Back" (if your main system is a 7.1 setup and this unit is specifically for surround back channels). Consult your main system's manual for the correct setting.

4. Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your amplifier.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation holes on the top and sides of the amplifier are not blocked. Adequate airflow prevents overheating.
  • Power Cord: Regularly check the power cord for any damage. If damaged, discontinue use and contact Sony service.
  • Environment: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, or direct sunlight.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your TA-SA200WR, refer to the following common problems and solutions.
