4.1. Components and Indicators

  • Power Button: Located at the bottom of the red circular face. Press and hold to power on/off.
  • Bluetooth Indicator: Blue LED, located at the top of the red circular face. Indicates Bluetooth connection status.
  • GPS Indicator: Green LED, located on the right side of the red circular face. Indicates GPS signal acquisition status.
  • Battery Indicator: Red LED, located on the left side of the red circular face. Indicates battery charge status.
  • USB Port: For charging the device.
  • Mode Switch: A small switch on the side of the device to select compatibility mode (Apple devices vs. other devices).

5. Setup

5.1. Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge your XGPS150A. Connect the supplied USB charging cord to the USB port on the device and plug the other end into a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The Battery Indicator (red LED) will illuminate while charging and turn off when fully charged. A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours.

5.2. Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power Button for approximately 3 seconds until the indicator lights briefly flash.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power Button for approximately 3 seconds until the indicator lights turn off.

5.3. Setting the Mode Switch

The XGPS150A has a mode switch to ensure compatibility with different operating systems. Set the switch before pairing:

5.4. Bluetooth Pairing

Once powered on and the mode switch is set, the XGPS150A will automatically enter pairing mode. The Bluetooth Indicator (blue LED) will flash rapidly.

  1. On your device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), go to the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Search for available devices. The XGPS150A will appear as "XGPS150A".
  3. Select "XGPS150A" to pair. No PIN is required.
  4. Once paired, the Bluetooth Indicator on the XGPS150A will stop flashing and remain solid blue.

5.5. GPS Signal Acquisition

For optimal GPS signal acquisition, ensure the XGPS150A has a clear view of the sky. The GPS Indicator (green LED) will flash while searching for satellites and become solid green once a stable GPS fix is acquired. The built-in Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) enhances accuracy.

5.6. Using the GPS Status Tool App

The "GPS Status Tool" is a free downloadable application available in the App Store (iOS) and Android Marketplace. This app provides real-time accurate GPS coordinates, position rate of change, battery status, and information about connected satellites. It is highly recommended for monitoring the device's performance.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. General Usage

Once paired and a GPS fix is acquired, your connected device will automatically use the XGPS150A for location data. This allows for highly accurate GPS tracking for various applications.
