Product Overview
The ProSensor 710 incorporates innovative stud sensing technology that instantly finds hidden studs. No sliding is required. This patent-pending detector senses the wall in thirteen locations simultaneously, then immediately illuminates the display elements that are in front of a stud. The ProSensor 710 is faster, less error prone and more accurate than other products on the market. It is the easy way to find studs.

Initial Use
The ProSensor 710 is designed for immediate use without the need for manual calibration. Once batteries are installed, the device is ready to operate.
Operating Instructions
The Franklin Sensors 710 Professional Stud Finder utilizes 13 patented sensors to accurately detect studs and other hidden objects behind walls. Follow these steps for optimal performance:
- Hold Button Down: Place the stud finder flat against the wall surface where you wish to locate a stud. Press and hold the large button located on the top of the device. The device will instantly activate.
- Scan the Wall: Slowly slide the device horizontally across the wall. The 13 LED lights on the top of the device will illuminate to indicate the presence and width of a stud.
- Identify Stud Center and Edges: The LED display shows the full width of the stud. The green light in the center indicates the precise middle of the stud, while the red lights on either side show its edges.
- Mark Location: Once the stud is located and its width is displayed, mark the center and edges on the wall for accurate drilling or mounting.
The device automatically adjusts for depth through one layer of sheetrock/drywall, providing accurate readings without complex settings.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Franklin Sensors 710 Professional Stud Finder, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dust and debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the plastic casing or electronic components.
- Storage: Store the stud finder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent battery leakage and potential damage.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this can affect its internal sensors and accuracy.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Franklin Sensors 710 Professional Stud Finder, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Device Not Turning On:
- Check if the batteries are inserted correctly with the proper polarity.
- Replace old or depleted batteries with fresh AA batteries.
- Ensure the power button is fully pressed and held during operation.
- Inaccurate Readings or No Detection:
- Ensure the device is held flat against the wall surface. Any gaps can affect accuracy.
- Move the device slowly across the wall. Rapid movement may lead to missed detections.
- The device is designed for drywall/sheetrock. Performance may vary on other materials (e.g., plaster, lath, concrete).
- Thick or uneven wall textures might affect detection. Try scanning in a different area or with lighter pressure.
- LEDs Flashing Erratically:
- This could indicate low battery power. Replace the batteries.
- Ensure there are no external interferences (e.g., strong electromagnetic fields) nearby.
If problems persist after attempting these steps, please refer to the Warranty and Support section for further assistance.
