1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Information

4. Initial Setup and First Use

4.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove your coffee maker from its packaging. Remove all packing materials, labels, and stickers. Keep packaging for future storage or disposal.

4.2 Cleaning Before First Use

Before using your coffee maker for the first time, clean all removable parts thoroughly:

• Wash the glass carafe, carafe lid, perma-filter, and brew basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
• Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.

4.3 First Brew Cycle (Water Only)

To clean the internal components and remove any manufacturing residue, perform a brew cycle with water only:

1. Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with fresh, cold water.
2. Place the empty perma-filter into the brew basket, and then place the brew basket into its position. Close the lid.
3. Place the empty glass carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
4. Plug the coffee maker into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
5. Press the ON/OFF button to start the brewing cycle.
6. Allow the cycle to complete. Discard the hot water from the carafe.
7. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Brewing Coffee

1. Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with the desired amount of fresh, cold water. Refer to the water level markings on the reservoir.
2. Place the perma-filter into the brew basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the perma-filter. A general guideline is one level scoop (provided) per cup. Adjust to taste.
3. Close the top lid securely.
4. Place the glass carafe with its lid onto the warming plate. Ensure it is properly seated to activate the drip-stop mechanism.
5. Plug the coffee maker into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
6. Press the ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
7. Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to the keep warm function.

5.2 1-4 Cup Setting

For brewing smaller quantities of coffee (1 to 4 cups), press the 1-4 CUP button after pressing ON/OFF. This setting optimizes the brewing process for smaller volumes, ensuring full flavor extraction. The indicator light for 1-4 CUP will illuminate.

5.3 Setting the Clock

1. Plug in the coffee maker. The digital display will flash '12:00'.
2. Press the HR button to set the hour. Hold to advance quickly.
3. Press the MIN button to set the minutes. Hold to advance quickly.
4. The clock is set automatically after a few seconds of inactivity.

5.4 Programming Auto-Brew Time

The 24-hour programmable timer allows you to set the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time.

1. Ensure the current time is set correctly (see 5.3).
2. Prepare the coffee maker for brewing as described in section 5.1 (water, coffee, carafe in place).
3. Press the PROG button. The digital display will show 'PROG' and flash '12:00'.
4. Use the HR and MIN buttons to set your desired brew start time.
5. Press the PROG button again to confirm the setting. The 'PROG' indicator light will remain illuminated.
6. To activate the programmed brew, press the AUTO button. The 'AUTO' indicator light will illuminate. The coffee maker will now start brewing at the set time.
7. To cancel the auto-brew function, press the AUTO button again.

5.5 Auto-Pause Feature

The auto-pause feature allows you to temporarily remove the carafe during the brewing cycle to pour a cup of coffee. The brewing will pause for approximately 30 seconds. If the carafe is not returned within this time, the brew basket may overflow. Always return the carafe to the warming plate promptly.

5.6 Keep Warm Function

After brewing is complete, the warming plate will automatically keep the coffee warm for up to 2 hours. After 2 hours, the coffee maker will automatically shut off for safety and energy saving.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

• Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
• Remove the perma-filter and brew basket. Discard used coffee grounds.
• Wash the glass carafe, carafe lid, perma-filter, and brew basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are not dishwasher safe.
• Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, warming plate, and control panel with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

6.2 Decalcification (Mineral Deposit Removal)

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. Decalcify your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

1. Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts cold water.
2. Place the empty perma-filter and brew basket into position. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
3. Press the ON/OFF button to start a brewing cycle.
4. Allow half of the solution to brew through, then press ON/OFF to turn off the coffee maker. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
5. Press ON/OFF again to complete the brewing cycle.
6. Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe.
7. Run 2-3 full cycles with fresh, cold water only to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
