4. Installation Instructions
The Glacier Bay Builder Paper Holder is designed for wall-mounted installation. Follow these steps carefully:
- Determine Mounting Location: Choose a suitable location on the wall, ensuring it is level and at a comfortable height for use. Use a pencil to mark the desired position.
- Disassemble the Holder: Separate the mounting bracket(s) from the main holder assembly. This usually involves loosening a set screw with a hex wrench or twisting the base.
- Mark Drill Holes: Place the mounting bracket(s) against the wall at your marked location. Use a level to ensure it is straight. Mark the positions for the drill holes through the bracket(s) with a pencil.
- Drill Pilot Holes: Using a drill with an appropriate drill bit (typically 1/4 inch for drywall anchors), drill pilot holes at the marked locations. If drilling into a wall stud, a smaller pilot hole may be sufficient.
- Insert Wall Anchors (if needed): If drilling into drywall without a stud, gently tap the plastic wall anchors into the pilot holes with a hammer until they are flush with the wall surface.
- Attach Mounting Bracket(s): Position the mounting bracket(s) over the pilot holes/anchors. Secure them to the wall using the provided mounting screws and a Phillips head screwdriver. Ensure the brackets are firmly attached.
- Secure the Paper Holder: Align the main paper holder assembly with the attached mounting bracket(s). Slide or attach the holder onto the bracket(s) and secure it by tightening the set screw(s) (if applicable) or by twisting the base until it locks into place.

5. Operating Instructions

- Remove the Old Roll: If an old roll is present, remove it from the holder.
- Access the Spindle: The holder typically uses a spring-loaded spindle or a removable bar.

- For a removable bar: Lift one end of the bar out of its socket.
- Load New Roll: Place a new standard-sized toilet paper roll onto the spindle or bar.
- Reinstall Spindle/Bar:
- For a spring-loaded spindle: Compress it again and insert it back into the holder's arms, releasing it to secure the roll.
- For a removable bar: Insert the bar back into its sockets, ensuring it is securely seated.

6. Maintenance and Care
To maintain the brushed nickel finish and ensure the longevity of your paper holder, follow these care instructions:
- Cleaning: Clean regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn spots, use a mild soap solution and immediately dry with a clean, soft cloth.
- Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, ammonia-based cleaners, or any cleaners containing bleach, acids, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
- Periodic Checks: Periodically check the mounting screws for tightness and re-tighten if necessary to prevent wobbling.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your paper holder, refer to the following common solutions:
- Holder is Loose/Wobbly:
- Check if the mounting screws are tight. Re-tighten them with a Phillips head screwdriver.
- Ensure the set screw (if present) securing the holder to the mounting bracket is fully tightened.
- If wall anchors were used, ensure they are properly seated and not stripped. You may need to use larger anchors or relocate the holder if the wall material is compromised.
- Toilet Paper Roll Does Not Fit:
- Ensure you are using a standard-sized toilet paper roll. Oversized or jumbo rolls may not fit all holders.
- Verify the spindle or bar is correctly installed and not obstructed.
