4. Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of the KP75 keypad.

  1. Wiring: Connect the keypad to the control unit according to the wiring diagram provided on the control unit label. Ensure all connections are secure and correct.
  2. Mounting Location: Select a mounting location that avoids metal surfaces or close proximity to other readers. Mounting on or near metal can significantly reduce the proximity read range.
  3. Drilling: The cable exits centrally from the back of the reader. Use this as a guide for accurate drilling and mounting.
  4. Secure Mounting: Securely fasten the keypad to the chosen surface using appropriate hardware.

Important: Always consult the specific wiring diagrams and installation guidelines provided with your Paxton Switch2 or Net2 control unit for detailed instructions.

5. Operation

The KP75 keypad operates based on the configuration set within your Switch2 or Net2 access control system.

  1. Presenting a Token: Hold your proximity card or token within close proximity (up to 100mm) of the reader. The reader will detect the token.
  2. Entering a PIN (if configured): If the system is configured for card plus PIN access, you must then enter your personal identification number (PIN) using the keypad.
  3. Access Verification: The control unit verifies the presented token and/or entered PIN against its database.
  4. Access Indication:
    • If access is granted, the green LED on the keypad will flash.
    • If access is denied, the red LED on the keypad will flash.

For specific user access rights and PIN management, refer to the documentation for your Paxton Switch2 or Net2 system.

6. Maintenance

The Paxton Access KP75 Proximity Keypad requires minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the keypad surface with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the unit for any signs of physical damage or loose connections.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KP75 Proximity Keypad, consider the following:

  • No Response from Token:
    • Ensure the token is held within the effective read range (up to 100mm).
    • Verify the token is valid and enrolled in the access control system.
    • Check for nearby metal objects or other readers that might interfere with the signal.
  • Incorrect PIN Entry:
    • Confirm the correct PIN for your access level.
    • Ensure the keypad is clean and buttons are functioning correctly.
  • No Power/LEDs Off:
    • Check the power supply to the control unit.
    • Inspect wiring connections between the keypad and the control unit for any disconnections or damage.
  • System Configuration: Many issues can be related to the configuration within the Switch2 or Net2 system. Consult your system administrator or the respective system manual.

If problems persist, contact Paxton Access technical support or your authorized installer.
