Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Brannan Four Way Countdown Timer & Clock, Model 28/212/0. This versatile digital timer features four independent countdown/count-up timers, a 24-hour clock, and a large, easy-to-read display. It is designed for various applications, including kitchen use, laboratory timing, and sports activities.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

The timer requires two LR44 batteries, which are included. To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert two LR44 batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Initial Power On and Clock Setting

Upon battery installation, the unit will power on. The display will show the current time or a default time. To set the clock:

  1. Press the CLOCK button to enter clock setting mode. The hour digits will flash.
  2. Use the H (Hours), M (Minutes), and S (Seconds) buttons to adjust the time.
  3. Press the CLOCK button again to confirm the setting and exit clock setting mode.

3. 12/24 Hour Format Selection

The timer supports both 12-hour (with AM/PM indicator) and 24-hour time formats. To switch between formats:

  • Locate the 12HR/24HR switch on the back of the unit.
  • Slide the switch to your desired time format.

Operating Instructions

1. Button Functions Overview

Familiarize yourself with the buttons on your timer:

  • T1, T2, T3, T4: Select individual timers for setting.
  • CLOCK: Displays current time; press and hold to set time.
  • H, M, S: Adjust Hours, Minutes, and Seconds for selected timer or clock.
  • CLEAR: Resets the selected timer to zero.
  • START/STOP/MEMORY: Starts or stops the selected timer. Also recalls the last set time for a timer.

2. Setting a Countdown Timer (T1-T4)

You can set up to four independent countdown timers:

  1. Press the desired timer button (T1, T2, T3, or T4) to select it. The display will show 00:00:00.
  2. Use the H, M, and S buttons to set the desired countdown time (up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds).
  3. Press the START/STOP/MEMORY button to begin the countdown. The timer icon for the selected timer will flash.
  4. When the countdown reaches zero, an alarm will sound for approximately 60 seconds. Press any button to silence the alarm.

3. Using the Count-Up Function

The timer can also function as a stopwatch:

  1. Select the desired timer (T1, T2, T3, or T4). Ensure it is reset to 00:00:00 by pressing CLEAR if necessary.
  2. Press the START/STOP/MEMORY button to begin counting up.
  3. Press START/STOP/MEMORY again to pause the count-up. Press it once more to resume.
  4. Press the CLEAR button to reset the count-up timer to zero.

4. Memory Function

The timer stores the last set countdown time for each individual timer (T1-T4). To recall a previous setting:

  • Select the desired timer (T1, T2, T3, or T4).
  • Press the START/STOP/MEMORY button while the timer is stopped and displaying 00:00:00. The last set time will appear.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean your timer, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.

Battery Replacement

When the display becomes dim or the timer functions erratically, it is time to replace the batteries. Refer to the "Battery Installation" section under Setup for instructions.

Troubleshooting

  • Display is blank or dim: Check battery installation and replace batteries if necessary.
  • Timer not starting/stopping: Ensure the correct timer (T1-T4) is selected. Press the START/STOP/MEMORY button firmly.
  • Alarm not sounding: Verify that the timer has counted down to zero. Ensure there are no obstructions to the speaker on the back of the unit.
  • Incorrect time displayed: Re-set the clock following the instructions in the "Setup" section. Check the 12HR/24HR switch.
