Upon first use or after battery replacement, the device may prompt you to set the date and time. Refer to the display and use the 'SET' button to adjust values and 'M' (Memory) button to confirm and move to the next setting. Accurate date and time are crucial for tracking historical readings.
Operating Instructions
1. Before Taking a Measurement:
- Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising, or bathing for 30 minutes prior to measurement.
- Rest for at least 5 minutes before taking a reading.
- Sit upright with your back supported, feet flat on the floor, and legs uncrossed.
- Place your arm on a flat surface so the cuff is at heart level.
2. Applying the Arm Cuff:
Ensure the cuff is applied directly to bare skin. If sleeves are rolled up, ensure they do not constrict the arm.
- Slide your left arm through the cuff loop. The air tube should run down the inside of your arm.
- Position the cuff so the bottom edge is approximately 1-2 cm (0.4-0.8 inches) above your elbow joint. The artery mark (usually a red circle or arrow) on the cuff should be aligned with your brachial artery on the inside of your arm.
- Tighten the cuff around your arm using the Velcro fastener. It should be snug but not uncomfortably tight. You should be able to insert two fingers between the cuff and your arm.

3. Taking a Measurement:
Once the cuff is correctly applied and you are in a relaxed position:
- Press the START/STOP button. The cuff will automatically inflate.
- Remain still and silent during the measurement. Do not talk or move your arm.
- Once the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your systolic pressure (SYS), diastolic pressure (DIA), and pulse rate will be displayed on the LCD screen.
- The reading will automatically be stored in the selected user's memory.
4. Understanding Your Readings:
- SYS (Systolic Pressure): The pressure when your heart beats, pumping blood.
- DIA (Diastolic Pressure): The pressure when your heart rests between beats.
- PULSE: Your heart rate, measured in beats per minute.
- WHO Hypertension Risk Indicator: The color bar on the left side of the display indicates your blood pressure category according to World Health Organization guidelines. Consult your doctor for specific interpretation.
5. Using Dual-User Memory:
The monitor supports two users, each with 60 memory slots. To switch between users or view past readings:
- Before taking a measurement, ensure the correct user icon (User 1 or User 2) is selected on the display. Use the 'SET' button to toggle between users if available, or the 'M' button to cycle through memory.
- To review past readings, press the M (Memory) button when the device is off or in standby mode. Repeatedly press 'M' to scroll through stored measurements.
- The display also features AM/PM averaging, which can provide a summary of morning and evening readings over time.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning:
Wipe the monitor and cuff with a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, then wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit or cuff in water.
2. Storage:
Store the device in its protective carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity. Avoid bending the air tube excessively.
3. Battery Replacement:
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace all four AA batteries with new ones. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display/Device won't turn on. | Batteries are dead or incorrectly inserted; USB cable not connected or faulty. | Replace batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Check USB cable connection and power source. |
| Inaccurate or inconsistent readings. | Improper cuff placement; movement or talking during measurement; incorrect body position; cuff size mismatch; air leakage from cuff/tube. | Re-apply cuff correctly. Remain still and silent. Ensure proper posture. Verify cuff fits arm circumference (8.7”-16.5”). Check for any visible damage or air leaks in the cuff or tube. |
| Cuff does not inflate or inflates too little/much. | Air tube not securely connected; air leakage; cuff applied too loosely/tightly. | Ensure air tube is firmly connected. Check cuff for damage. Re-apply cuff snugly. |
| Batteries drain quickly. | Frequent use; low-quality batteries; device left on. | Use high-quality alkaline batteries. Ensure device auto-shuts off. Consider using USB power for regular home use. |
