1. Safety Information

Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating this heater. Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, explosion, electric shock, serious injury, or death.

  • Ventilation: Always ensure adequate ventilation when operating this heater. Kerosene heaters consume oxygen and produce carbon monoxide. Operating in an unventilated area can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Fuel: Use only K-1 kerosene or #2 fuel oil. Never use gasoline, paint thinners, or other highly flammable liquids. Store fuel in an approved container in a well-ventilated area away from the heater.
  • Placement: Position the heater on a level, stable surface. Maintain a minimum clearance of 3 feet (0.9 meters) from combustible materials on all sides, top, and front. Do not operate near curtains, drapes, or other flammable fabrics.
  • Operation: Do not move, handle, or refuel the heater while it is operating or hot. Allow it to cool completely before performing any maintenance or refueling.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the heater at all times.
  • Proposition 65 Warning: This product can expose you to chemicals including carbon monoxide, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

  3. Placement: Place the heater on a firm, level, non-combustible surface. Ensure the heater is at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) away from walls, fabrics, and other combustible materials.
  4. Fueling:
    • Ensure the heater is turned OFF and completely cool before refueling.
    • Use only K-1 kerosene or #2 fuel oil. Do not use gasoline or other volatile fuels.
    • Fill the fuel tank slowly to prevent spills. Do not overfill.
    • Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately.
  5. Power Connection: Connect the heater to a properly grounded 120 Volt AC electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords unless they are rated for outdoor heavy-duty use and appropriate for the heater's power requirements.

4. Operating Instructions

Starting the Heater:

  1. Ensure the fuel tank is adequately filled with K-1 kerosene or #2 fuel oil.
  2. Verify the heater is plugged into a grounded 120V outlet.
  3. Locate the power switch (often a single switch operation).
  4. Turn the power switch to the "ON" position. The heater should ignite within a few seconds.
  5. If the heater fails to ignite, turn it off, wait a few minutes, and try again. If issues persist, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Adjusting Heat Output:

This model typically offers a fixed heat output or a high/low setting. Consult the control panel for specific adjustment options. The MH-125-OFR provides 95,000 or 125,000 BTU output.

Shutting Down the Heater:

  1. Turn the power switch to the "OFF" position.
  2. Allow the heater to cool down completely before moving or storing. The fan may continue to run for a short period to cool internal components.

Important: Do not move the heater while it is operating or still hot. This can be dangerous and may damage internal components like the photocell.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures efficient and safe operation of your Master MH-125-OFR heater. Always disconnect the heater from the power supply and allow it to cool completely before performing any maintenance.

Daily/Before Each Use:

  • Inspect the power cord for damage.
  • Check for any fuel leaks.
  • Ensure the area around the heater is clear of obstructions and combustible materials.

Weekly/Monthly:

  • Clean the Photocell: Gently wipe the photocell lens with a clean, soft cloth or cotton swab. A dirty photocell can prevent the heater from staying lit.
  • Clean the Fan Blades: Remove any dust or debris from the fan blades to ensure proper airflow.
  • Check Fuel Filter: Inspect the fuel filter for clogs or debris. Clean or replace if necessary.
  • Clean Exterior: Wipe down the exterior of the heater with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

Storage:

When storing the heater for extended periods, drain all fuel from the tank. Store in a dry, clean area away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
