Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper setup and installation:
- Choose Location: Select an outdoor, well-ventilated area away from combustible materials. The unit can be wall-mounted or used freestanding.
- Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment (typically at the bottom right) and insert two D-cell batteries. Ensure correct polarity.
- Connect Water Inlet: Connect your cold water supply to the Water Input port (usually blue marked) at the bottom of the unit. Use the provided 1/2 inch NPT fittings and ensure a tight, leak-free connection.
- Connect Water Output: Connect the shower hose to the Water Output port (usually red marked) at the bottom of the unit.
- Connect Gas Supply: Attach the provided gas hose with regulator to the Gas Input port (usually yellow marked) on the unit. Then, connect the regulator to a standard liquid propane (LP) tank. Ensure all gas connections are secure.
- Check for Leaks: Before lighting, apply a soapy water solution to all gas connections. Open the LP tank valve. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Close the valve, tighten connections, and retest. Do not proceed until all leaks are resolved.

Operating Instructions
Once the unit is properly installed and checked for leaks:
- Open Gas Supply: Slowly open the valve on your LP gas tank.
- Open Water Supply: Turn on the cold water supply to the unit. Ensure sufficient water pressure (minimum 5 PSI).
- Adjust Controls:
- Gas Knob (left): Controls the gas flow and thus the heat output. Turn clockwise for higher heat, counter-clockwise for lower heat.
- Water Knob (right): Controls the water flow. Adjust to achieve desired temperature. Higher flow generally means cooler water, lower flow means hotter water.
- Ignition: The unit will automatically ignite when water flows through it and the gas supply is open. You should hear a clicking sound followed by the burner igniting.
- Temperature Adjustment: Fine-tune the water temperature by adjusting both the gas and water flow knobs. For optimal performance, especially in colder climates, you may need to reduce water flow to achieve higher temperatures.
- Shut Down: To turn off the unit, first close the gas valve on the LP tank, then turn off the water supply.

This image shows the two main control knobs: one for gas adjustment (temperature) and one for water flow (outlet water flow switch, also indicating summer/winter mode), along with the gas regulator and hose, and the outdoor shower & hose attachment.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your water heater:
- Draining for Winterization: If the unit will be exposed to freezing temperatures, it is crucial to completely drain all water from the unit to prevent damage from freezing. Disconnect water lines and open drain valves (if present) or tilt the unit to ensure all water escapes.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Inspect Connections: Regularly check all gas and water connections for signs of wear or leaks.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the D-cell batteries when the ignition becomes weak or fails to ignite.
