2. Product Overview

3. System Components
The STEELMATE PTS200N system includes the following main components:
- Control Unit (ECU): The central processing unit that manages sensor data and display output.
- Ultrasonic Sensors (x2): Two rear-mounted sensors for obstacle detection.
- Digital LED Display: Provides visual distance indication and audible alerts. Designed for reversed viewing in the rearview mirror.
- Wiring Harness: Connects the control unit to the sensors, display, and vehicle power.

4. Installation Instructions
Professional installation is recommended. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and the battery is disconnected before beginning installation.
4.1 Safety Precautions
- Disconnect the vehicle's battery before installation.
- Ensure all wiring is properly insulated and secured to prevent short circuits or damage.
- Avoid installing sensors near exhaust pipes or other heat sources.
4.2 Sensor Installation
- Determine the optimal placement for the two sensors on the rear bumper. They should be evenly spaced and at a consistent height, typically between 50-70 cm from the ground.
- Use the provided hole saw to drill the sensor mounting holes. Ensure the holes are clean and free of burrs.
- Insert the sensors into the drilled holes, ensuring they are flush with the bumper surface and facing directly backward.
- Route the sensor cables into the vehicle's trunk area, ensuring they are protected from sharp edges and moving parts.
4.3 Control Unit Placement
Mount the control unit (ECU) securely in a dry, protected area within the vehicle's trunk or rear compartment. Ensure it is easily accessible for wiring connections.
4.4 Wiring
- Connect the sensor cables to the corresponding ports on the control unit.
- Connect the power cable from the control unit to the vehicle's reverse light circuit. This ensures the system activates only when the vehicle is in reverse. Connect the ground wire to a suitable chassis ground point.
- Connect the display cable to the designated port on the control unit.
- Secure all wiring using the provided cable ties, keeping them away from hot or moving components.
4.5 LED Display Mounting
The digital LED display is designed to be mounted in the rear of the vehicle, typically above the rear window, facing forward. Its display is reversed so that it appears normal when viewed through the rearview mirror. Secure the display using its adhesive pad or mounting bracket in a location that provides clear visibility in the rearview mirror without obstructing the driver's view.
5. Operation
Once installed and the vehicle is in reverse gear, the STEELMATE PTS200N system will automatically activate. The LED display will show the distance to obstacles behind the vehicle in feet, and an audible beep alert will sound. The frequency of the beeps increases as the vehicle gets closer to an obstacle. The display's two-color indication provides additional visual cues regarding proximity.
The system features a self-test function, utilizing an on-board processor to perform a diagnostic check between the display and the ECU module upon activation.

6. Maintenance
- Sensor Cleaning: Periodically clean the sensors on the rear bumper to ensure accurate detection. Use a soft cloth and mild soap solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
