2. Safety Information

WARNING: Read, understand, and follow all instructions and warnings before using this product. Failure to do so may result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

  • DO NOT exceed the rated capacity of 3.5 tons (7,000 lbs).
  • This hydraulic jack is designed for lifting purposes only. NEVER use it to support a vehicle.
  • Immediately after lifting, support the vehicle with appropriately rated jack stands.
  • Ensure the jack is placed on a hard, level surface capable of supporting the load.
  • Center the load on the saddle. Off-center loads can cause instability.
  • Keep hands and feet clear of the jack's moving parts and the vehicle during lifting and lowering.
  • Do not modify the jack or use it for purposes other than its intended design.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, including eye protection.

3. Components and Features

Familiarize yourself with the main components and features of your BLACKHAWK! B6350 Service Jack:

  • Lifting Arm: The primary component that raises and lowers the vehicle.
  • Swivel Saddle: A rotating pad on top of the lifting arm designed to securely contact the vehicle's jacking point. It allows for easy positioning and enhances user safety.
  • Handle: Used for pumping the jack to lift and for controlling the lowering mechanism. Features a foam grip for comfort.
  • Release Valve: Integrated into the handle mechanism, controls the lowering speed of the jack.
  • Wheels: Heavy-duty steel wheels for easy maneuverability.
  • Fast Lift Technology: Allows the jack to quickly raise the saddle to the jacking point with minimal pumps when unloaded.
  • Internal Safety Valve: Prevents overloading the jack beyond its rated capacity.
  • Bypass Device: Protects the hydraulic system from damage due to over-pumping.
  • Rugged Universal Joint: Provides precise control over the lowering process.

4. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the jack from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.
  2. Handle Assembly: Insert the handle into the handle socket. Secure it by tightening the set screw or bolt located on the side of the socket. Ensure the handle is firmly seated.
  3. Purging Air from Hydraulic System: Before first use, or if the jack has been stored for an extended period, it may be necessary to purge air from the hydraulic system.
    • Turn the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve.
    • Pump the handle fully up and down approximately 10-15 times.
    • Turn the handle clockwise to close the release valve.
    • Test the jack by lifting it to its full height and then lowering it. Repeat if necessary until smooth operation is achieved.
  4. Check Hydraulic Fluid Level: Locate the fill plug (often a Phillips screw) on the top of the jack, usually under a red pop-off plate near the handle. Remove the plug and check the fluid level. The fluid should be near the top of the reservoir. Add hydraulic jack oil if needed, then replace the plug.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Lifting a Vehicle

  1. Prepare the Vehicle: Park the vehicle on a hard, level surface. Engage the parking brake and block the wheels that will remain on the ground.
  2. Position the Jack: Locate the manufacturer-recommended jacking points on the vehicle. Position the jack so the swivel saddle is directly under the jacking point. Ensure the jack is stable.
  3. Close Release Valve: Turn the handle clockwise until the release valve is firmly closed. Do not overtighten.
  4. Lift the Vehicle: Pump the handle up and down to raise the vehicle. The fast lift feature will quickly bring the saddle to the contact point, then transition to a slower lift for controlled raising. Lift the vehicle only high enough to place jack stands.
  5. Secure with Jack Stands: Once the vehicle is at the desired height, immediately place appropriately rated jack stands under the vehicle's designated support points. Ensure the jack stands are stable and properly engaged.
  6. Slightly Lower onto Jack Stands: Slowly turn the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve, allowing the vehicle to gently rest onto the jack stands. Once the vehicle is fully supported by the jack stands, remove the hydraulic jack.

5.2. Lowering a Vehicle

  1. Prepare for Lowering: Ensure the area around the vehicle is clear.
  2. Raise Slightly: Position the jack under the jacking point again and lift the vehicle just enough to clear the jack stands.
  3. Remove Jack Stands: Carefully remove the jack stands from under the vehicle.
  4. Lower Vehicle: Slowly turn the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve. Control the lowering speed by adjusting how much you open the valve. Lower the vehicle completely to the ground.
  5. Remove Jack: Once the vehicle is fully on the ground, remove the jack.

6. Maintenance

  • Lubrication: Periodically lubricate all moving parts with light machine oil.
  • Hydraulic Fluid: Check the hydraulic fluid level every three months or as needed. Use only high-quality hydraulic jack oil. Do not use brake fluid or other fluids, as this can damage the seals.
  • Cleaning: Keep the jack clean from dirt, grease, and corrosive materials.
  • Storage: Store the jack in a dry, protected area with the ram fully lowered.
  • Inspection: Before each use, inspect the jack for any signs of damage, leaks, or worn parts. Do not use a damaged jack.
