4. Setup and First Use
4.1 Unpacking and Assembly
- Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Place the grill body on a stable, flat surface.
- Unfold the legs to position the grill for use. Ensure they are securely locked.
- Remove the red travel band and lift the lid.
- Place the enamel coated steel cooking grate onto the grill body.
4.2 Connecting the Propane Cylinder
The Fuego Element grill is designed for use with 1 lb (16.4 oz) disposable propane cylinders. An adapter may be used for larger propane tanks (sold separately).
- Ensure the grill's control knob is in the 'OFF' position.
- Screw the propane regulator onto the grill's gas inlet until hand-tight. Do not overtighten.
- Screw the 1 lb propane cylinder onto the regulator until hand-tight.
- Perform a leak test before first use and after every cylinder change.
4.3 Leak Testing
To check for gas leaks:
- Mix a solution of equal parts liquid dish soap and water.
- Ensure the grill control knob is 'OFF'.
- Turn on the propane supply at the cylinder.
- Apply the soap solution to all gas connections (regulator to grill, cylinder to regulator).
- If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Immediately turn off the propane supply. Retighten connections and retest. If leaks persist, do not use the grill and contact customer support.
- After confirming no leaks, turn off the propane supply.
4.4 Initial Seasoning
Before first use, it is recommended to season the enamel coated steel cooking grate to enhance its non-stick properties and durability:
- Lightly coat the cooking grate with a high smoke point cooking oil (e.g., vegetable oil, canola oil).
- Operate the grill on medium heat for approximately 15-20 minutes.
- Allow the grill to cool completely before cleaning.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Lighting the Grill
- Ensure the lid is open.
- Turn on the propane supply at the cylinder.
- Push and turn the control knob to the 'HIGH' position. The integrated piezo igniter should spark and light the burner.
- If the burner does not light within 5 seconds, turn the control knob to 'OFF', turn off the propane supply, wait 5 minutes for gas to dissipate, and then repeat the lighting procedure.
- Manual Lighting: If the igniter fails, with the lid open, hold a lit match or long lighter near the burner ports while slowly turning the control knob to 'HIGH'.
5.2 Preheating
Once lit, close the lid and allow the grill to preheat for 5-10 minutes on high heat. This ensures the cooking grate reaches an optimal temperature for searing and even cooking.
5.3 Cooking
Adjust the variable control valve to achieve your desired cooking temperature. The 159-square-inch cooking surface is suitable for grilling various foods. Be aware that the center of the grill may be slightly cooler than the edges.

- Allow the grill to cool completely before moving or cleaning.
6. Maintenance and Care
6.1 Cleaning the Cooking Grate
After each use, once the grill has cooled:
- Scrape off any food residue with a grill brush.
- For stubborn residue, remove the grate and wash with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely to prevent rust.
6.2 Cleaning the Grease Trap
The grease trap should be cleaned regularly to prevent flare-ups and maintain hygiene:
- Remove the grease trap from the bottom of the grill.
- Dispose of accumulated grease responsibly.
- Wash the grease trap with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry before reinserting.
6.3 Exterior Cleaning
Wipe down the exterior surfaces of the grill with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
6.4 Storage and Transport
For compact storage and transport:
- Ensure the grill is completely cool and clean.
- Fold the legs inward until they lock into the handle position.
- Secure the lid with the red travel band to keep all components compact and secure.

7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Grill will not light | No gas flow; Igniter malfunction; Clogged burner ports | Check propane cylinder connection and supply. Use manual lighting. Clean burner ports. |
| Inconsistent or "dancing" flame | Low gas pressure; Regulator issue; Air/gas mixture imbalance | Ensure propane cylinder is not low. Check regulator connection. Allow grill to preheat with lid closed for 10-15 minutes to stabilize flame. |
| Low heat output | Low propane; Regulator bypass activated; Clogged burner | Replace propane cylinder. Reset regulator by turning off grill and propane, disconnecting, waiting 1 minute, then reconnecting. Clean burner. |
| Red travel band breaks or fails | Wear and tear; Overstretching | Replace with a suitable elastic strap or bungee cords for secure transport. |
