The VuPoint PS-CA6-VP is a compact sheetfed digital photo scanner designed for converting physical photos into digital files. It supports scanning to an SD card or directly to a PC via USB.

Setup

1. Power Connection

  1. Connect the power adapter to the scanner's power port.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
  3. The status indicator light will illuminate, indicating the scanner is receiving power.

2. Software Installation (for PC connection)

  1. Insert the "Business Card Organizer Software CD" into your computer's CD/DVD drive.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the necessary drivers and software.
  3. Once installation is complete, connect the scanner to your computer using the provided USB cable.
  4. Your computer should recognize the scanner as a new device.

3. Inserting a Memory Card (Optional)

  1. Ensure the scanner is powered off.
  2. Insert a compatible SD, SDHC, or MMC memory card into the SD card slot until it clicks into place.
  3. The scanner will automatically detect the memory card when powered on.

Operating Instructions

Scanning a Photo

  1. Power On: Press the Power/Scan button to turn on the scanner.
  2. Prepare Photo: Ensure the photo is clean and free of dust. For delicate or curled photos, use the anti-curl sheath.
  3. Insert Photo: Gently feed the photo into the photo input slot, face up. The scanner will automatically detect the photo and begin to pull it through.
  4. Scan Process: The scanner will automatically scan the photo. The status indicator light may change during this process.
  5. Retrieve Photo: Once the scan is complete, the photo will exit from the photo output slot.
  6. Save Image:
    • To SD Card: If an SD card is inserted, the image will automatically be saved as a JPEG file.
    • To PC: If connected to a PC with the software installed, the scanned image will appear in the software interface. Save the image using the software's options.

Using the Calibration Card

For optimal scan quality, especially if colors appear inaccurate, use the provided calibration card.

  1. Power on the scanner.
  2. Insert the calibration card into the photo input slot, following the arrows on the card.
  3. The scanner will perform an automatic calibration.
  4. Once complete, the scanner is ready for use.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Sensor

Dust or debris on the scanner's sensor can affect scan quality. Clean the sensor regularly using the provided cleaning swab.

  1. Power off and unplug the scanner.
  2. Gently insert the sensor cleaning swab into the photo input slot.
  3. Move the swab slowly from side to side to wipe the sensor surface.
  4. Remove the swab and dispose of it.
  5. Allow the scanner to dry completely before reconnecting power.

General Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the scanner with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
