3. Usage Instructions
3.1. For Automatic Drip Coffee Brewers and Servers
Follow these steps for effective cleaning of your coffee brewer and server:
- Step 1: Empty coffee from the brew basket and server.
- Step 2: Place one (1) Urnex Tabz tablet into the brew basket. For larger brewers (3.8 liters or more), use two (2) tablets. For 5.7 liters, use three (3) tablets.
- Step 3: Run a full brew cycle. The blue solution will indicate the cleaning process.
- Step 4: Discard the solution from the server.
- Step 5: Rinse all components thoroughly with fresh water until the blue color is completely gone. Run a second full brew cycle with fresh water to ensure all residue is removed.

3.2. For Espresso Machine Backflushing
Urnex Tabz can be used for backflushing espresso machines. Consult your espresso machine's manual for specific backflushing procedures, then integrate the Tabz tablet as follows:
- Step 1: Insert a blind filter into your portafilter.
- Step 2: Place one (1) Urnex Tabz tablet into the blind filter.
- Step 3: Insert the portafilter into the group head.
- Step 4: Activate the brew cycle for 10 seconds, then stop for 10 seconds. Repeat this process 5 times.
- Step 5: Remove the portafilter and rinse it thoroughly under running water.
- Step 6: Reinsert the portafilter into the group head (without the tablet) and repeat the 10-second on/off cycle 5 times to rinse the group head.
- Step 7: Brew and discard a shot of espresso to season the machine.
4. Maintenance
Regular cleaning with Urnex Tabz helps maintain the performance and longevity of your coffee brewing equipment. The frequency of cleaning depends on usage, but generally, cleaning once a week for moderate use or daily for heavy commercial use is recommended to prevent coffee oil buildup and ensure optimal coffee taste.
