2. Product Overview
The RAYMOND WEIL Freelancer Chronograph Watch is a sophisticated timepiece designed for precision and durability. Key features include:
- Movement: Swiss Automatic movement, self-winding, ensuring accurate timekeeping without the need for a battery.
- Dial: Black chronograph dial with luminous hands and hour markers for enhanced visibility in low light conditions.
- Case: Durable stainless-steel round case, 42mm in diameter.
- Crystal: Sapphire crystal, known for its scratch resistance.
- Strap: Brown leather strap with a push-button deployant clasp for secure and comfortable wear.
- Functions: Chronograph feature (hours, minutes, seconds), day and date display at the 3 o'clock position.
- Water Resistance: Water resistant to 330 feet (100 meters), suitable for snorkeling and swimming, but not for diving.
3. Setup and Initial Operation
3.1. Winding the Watch
As an automatic watch, it is powered by the motion of your wrist. However, for initial setup or if the watch has stopped due to lack of wear, it is recommended to manually wind it.
- Ensure the crown is in position 1 (fully pushed in, against the case).
- Turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will build up a sufficient power reserve to start the watch.
- The watch will begin to run.
3.2. Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to position 3 (farthest out). The second hand will stop.
- Turn the crown to move the hour and minute hands clockwise until the desired time is set. To avoid confusion between AM/PM for the date change, advance the hands past 12 o'clock. If the date changes, you are in the AM hours.
- Once the time is set, push the crown back to position 1.
3.3. Setting the Day and Date
The watch features a day and date display at the 3 o'clock position.
- Pull the crown out to position 2 (middle position).
- Turn the crown clockwise to set the date.
- Turn the crown counter-clockwise to set the day.
- Avoid setting the date or day between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this is when the watch's internal mechanism is engaged in changing the date, and manual adjustment can cause damage.
- Once the day and date are set, push the crown back to position 1.
4. Operating the Chronograph Function
Your Freelancer watch is equipped with a chronograph function for measuring elapsed time. It typically features two pushers on the side of the case, in addition to the crown.
- Start/Stop Pusher (usually at 2 o'clock): Press this pusher to start the chronograph (the large central second hand will begin to move). Press it again to stop the chronograph.
- Reset Pusher (usually at 4 o'clock): After stopping the chronograph, press this pusher to reset all chronograph hands (central second hand, minute counter, and hour counter) back to their zero positions. This pusher should only be pressed when the chronograph is stopped.

5. Maintenance and Care
5.1. Water Resistance
Your watch is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet). This makes it suitable for recreational swimming and snorkeling. However, it is not designed for scuba diving or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet or submerged.
5.2. Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your watch, clean the case and sapphire crystal regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals, as these can degrade the material over time.
5.3. Power Reserve
The watch has a power reserve of approximately 46 hours when fully wound. If you do not wear the watch for an extended period, it will stop. Simply re-wind it manually or wear it to restart the movement.
5.4. Storage
When not wearing your watch, store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields, which can affect its accuracy.
6. Troubleshooting
- Watch has stopped or is running inaccurately:
- Ensure the watch is sufficiently wound. Manually wind it 30-40 times (refer to Section 3.1).
- If the issue persists, the watch may require servicing by an authorized RAYMOND WEIL service center.
- Date or Day not changing correctly:
- Check if the time is set correctly (AM/PM). Advance the time past 12 o'clock to confirm the date change.
- Avoid setting the date/day between 9 PM and 3 AM.
- Water ingress:
- If moisture appears inside the watch, immediately take it to an authorized service center. Do not attempt to dry it yourself.
- Ensure the crown was fully pushed in before water exposure.
