2. Safety Information

WARNING: Read, understand, and follow all instructions and warnings provided in this manual before using this product. Failure to do so may result in property damage, serious injury, or death. Always use jack stands to support the vehicle after lifting. Never work under a vehicle supported only by a floor jack.

General Safety Precautions:

  • Ensure the jack is on a hard, level surface capable of supporting the load.
  • Block the wheels of the vehicle that are not being lifted.
  • Do not exceed the rated capacity of 3 tons (6,000 lb.).
  • Lift only on vehicle manufacturer's recommended lifting points.
  • Immediately after lifting, support the vehicle with appropriate jack stands.
  • Keep hands and feet clear of moving parts and the area under the vehicle.
  • Do not use the jack for purposes other than lifting vehicles.
  • Inspect the jack before each use for any damage or leaks. Do not use if damaged.
  • Lower the vehicle slowly and in a controlled manner.

3. Unpacking and Initial Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the floor jack and its components from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Ensure all parts, including the handle, are present.

3.2 Handle Assembly

The handle consists of two sections. Connect the upper handle section to the lower handle section by aligning the button and holes, then pushing until it locks into place. Insert the assembled handle into the handle receiver on the jack and secure it with the provided pin or screw, if applicable. The handle is designed to be easily removable for storage or use in confined spaces.

3.3 Bleeding the Hydraulic System

Before first use, it is recommended to bleed any air from the hydraulic system to ensure proper operation. To do this:

  1. Turn the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve.
  2. Pump the handle approximately 10-15 full strokes to circulate the hydraulic fluid and expel air.
  3. Turn the handle clockwise to close the release valve.
  4. Test the jack by raising it to its full height and then lowering it completely. Repeat if necessary until smooth operation is achieved.

4. Operation

4.1 Preparing the Vehicle

  • Park the vehicle on a hard, level surface.
  • Engage the parking brake.
  • Place wheel chocks or blocks on the wheels that will remain on the ground.

4.2 Lifting the Vehicle

  1. Position the jack under the vehicle's designated lifting point. The low-profile design (3.75 inches minimum height) allows access under most vehicles. Use the side-mount handle for easy positioning.
  2. ARCAN 3-Ton Aluminum Low Profile Floor Jack positioned under a vehicle's frame

  3. Ensure the saddle is centered on the lifting point to prevent slippage.
  4. Close-up of the ARCAN floor jack's saddle and lift arm mechanism

  5. Turn the handle clockwise until the release valve is fully closed.
  6. Pump the handle to raise the vehicle. The quick-rise dual pump system will rapidly lift the saddle to the load. Continue pumping until the vehicle reaches the desired height (up to 18 inches).

  8. Once the vehicle is lifted, immediately place appropriately rated jack stands under the vehicle's frame or designated support points.
  9. Slowly lower the vehicle onto the jack stands by gently turning the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve.

4.3 Lowering the Vehicle

  1. Ensure the area around and under the vehicle is clear of personnel and obstructions.
  2. Raise the vehicle slightly off the jack stands by pumping the jack handle.
  3. Remove the jack stands.
  4. Slowly turn the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve. The hydraulic control system will ensure a controlled descent.
  5. Once the vehicle is fully lowered, remove the floor jack.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your ARCAN floor jack.

5.1 Inspection

  • Before each use, visually inspect the jack for any signs of damage, wear, or hydraulic fluid leaks.
  • Check all bolts, pins, and connections to ensure they are secure.
  • Inspect the wheels and casters for smooth movement.
  • Close-up of the ARCAN floor jack's rear caster wheel

5.2 Lubrication

Lubricate moving parts, such as pivot points and wheel axles, periodically with light machine oil to ensure smooth operation.

5.3 Hydraulic Fluid Level

Check the hydraulic fluid level periodically. To do so, ensure the jack is fully lowered and on a level surface. Remove the oil filler plug and check the fluid level. If low, refill with a high-quality hydraulic jack oil. Do not overfill. Replace the plug securely.

5.4 Storage

Store the jack in a clean, dry place with the ram fully retracted to prevent corrosion and extend seal life.
