1. Important Safety Instructions
When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should be observed, including the following:
- Read all instructions before using your appliance.
- Always connect to a properly grounded outlet.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning or servicing.
- Do not immerse in water or liquid.
- Use only BISSELL cleaning products intended for use with this machine to prevent internal component damage.
- Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
- Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer's recommended attachments.
- Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center.
- Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
- Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
- Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
- Do not pick up hot or burning objects.
- Do not pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in areas where they may be present.
- Do not use appliance in an enclosed space filled with vapors given off by oil base paint, paint thinner, some mothproofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.
- Do not use to pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).
- Do not modify the grounded plug.
- Do not use on wet surfaces.
- Do not lift the machine using the handle. May allow machine to hit user.
2. Product Overview and Components
The BISSELL Big Green Professional Carpet Cleaner is designed for powerful deep cleaning. Familiarize yourself with its main components:
- XL DirtLifter PowerBrush: A rotating brush that effectively removes deep-down dirt.

3. Setup
3.1 Filling the Clean Water Tank
- Remove the clean water tank from the machine by lifting the handle.
- Unscrew the black cap labeled "CLEAN TANK" or "WATER" and fill the tank with warm tap water up to the indicated fill line.
- Add the recommended amount of BISSELL PRO MAX cleaning formula to the tank. Refer to the formula bottle for specific dilution instructions.
- Securely replace the black cap and return the clean water tank to the machine. Ensure it clicks into place.

3.2 Connecting the Power Cord
Unwind the 25-foot power cord and plug it into a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the cord is clear of the cleaning path to prevent tripping hazards or damage.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Preparing for Cleaning
- Vacuum the area thoroughly before deep cleaning to remove loose dirt and debris.
- Move furniture out of the way if possible.
- For heavily soiled areas, pre-treat with a BISSELL pre-treatment solution.
4.2 Carpet Cleaning
- Turn on the machine using the power switch located on the handle.
- Press the handle release pedal to recline the handle.
- To apply cleaning solution, hold down the spray trigger on the handle while pushing the machine forward and backward over the carpet. The flow indicator will spin when solution is being dispensed.
- For best results, clean on both the forward and backward pass. This helps reduce cleaning time and promotes faster drying.
- Release the spray trigger and make additional passes over the cleaned area to suction up excess moisture. Continue until little to no water is visible being extracted.

4.3 Using the Hose and Tough Stain Tool
- To use the hose and tool, ensure the machine is upright and the handle is locked.
- Locate the hose connection port on the front of the machine. Connect the 9-inch long reach hose to this port.
- Attach the 6-inch Tough Stain Tool to the end of the hose.
- Press the spray trigger on the tool to dispense solution onto the stain. Scrub the stain gently with the tool's bristles.
- Release the spray trigger and use the tool to suction up the dirty solution. Repeat as necessary until the stain is removed.
- When finished, disconnect the tool and hose, and return them to their storage locations on the machine.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Emptying and Cleaning Tanks
- After each use, or when the dirty water tank reaches its "FULL" line, turn off and unplug the machine.
- Remove the dirty water tank by lifting its handle.
- Pour out the dirty water into a sink or toilet. Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water.
- Remove the clean water tank and empty any remaining solution. Rinse thoroughly.
- Allow both tanks to air dry before reassembling them onto the machine.

5.2 Cleaning the Brushes and Nozzle
- Periodically check the XL DirtLifter PowerBrush for any tangled hair or debris. Remove as necessary.
- Wipe down the exterior of the machine and the nozzle area with a damp cloth.
5.3 Storage
Store the machine in a dry, protected area. The handle can be folded down for more compact storage.
6. Troubleshooting
