Setup and Installation
Mounting the Amplifier:
Choose a dry, well-ventilated location for mounting the amplifier, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure adequate airflow around the amplifier's heat sink for proper cooling. Use the provided mounting hardware to secure the amplifier firmly to a solid surface in your vehicle.
Wiring Connections:
- Power Connection: Connect the main power wire (typically 4-gauge or larger) from the positive terminal of your vehicle's battery to the amplifier's +12V terminal. Install an in-line fuse holder (60A recommended) within 18 inches of the battery.
- Ground Connection: Connect a ground wire of the same gauge as the power wire from the amplifier's GND terminal to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle's chassis. Ensure a good electrical connection.
- Remote Turn-On: Connect a remote turn-on wire from your head unit's remote output to the amplifier's REM terminal. This wire turns the amplifier on and off with your head unit.
- RCA Input: Connect RCA cables from your head unit's subwoofer or full-range pre-outs to the amplifier's RCA input jacks.
- Speaker Output: Connect your subwoofer(s) to the amplifier's speaker output terminals. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -). The QB1000D is stable down to 2 ohms.

Operating Instructions
Initial Power-Up:

If the protect light illuminates (typically red), immediately turn off the system and check all wiring for shorts or incorrect connections.
Adjusting Controls:
- Input Level (Gain): Start with the gain control at minimum. Play a familiar piece of music at a moderate volume on your head unit. Slowly increase the amplifier's gain until you hear distortion, then back off slightly. This sets the amplifier's input sensitivity to match your head unit's output.
- Low-Pass Filter (LPF): This amplifier features a continuously variable 12 dB low-pass crossover. Adjust this control to filter out high frequencies from your subwoofer, typically set between 50Hz and 120Hz, depending on your subwoofer and personal preference.
- Subsonic Filter: The continuously variable subsonic filter (15-55Hz) helps protect your subwoofer from playing frequencies below its resonant frequency, which can cause damage. Set this slightly below your subwoofer's tuning frequency or port tuning frequency for ported enclosures.
- Bass Boost: Use the bass boost control sparingly. Excessive bass boost can lead to distortion and potential damage to your subwoofer. Adjust to taste, ensuring the sound remains clean.
- Remote Bass Control: Connect the optional remote bass control knob to the amplifier to conveniently adjust the bass level from your driver's seat.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the amplifier's heat sink fins remain clear of obstructions to allow for proper heat dissipation.
