1. Introduction

The Carson 3D Series 8x42mm Binocular (Model TD-842) is engineered to provide bright, sharp images through its phase-coated prisms and high-definition optical coating technology. The extra-long eye relief and twist-down eyecups make them suitable for eyeglass wearers. Fully multi-coated lenses ensure clear viewing even in low-light conditions.

2.2 Adjusting Interpupillary Distance

Hold the binoculars with both hands and look through the eyepieces. Bend the binocular body at the hinge until you see a single, clear circular field of view. This adjusts the distance between the eyepieces to match the distance between your eyes.

2.3 Adjusting Eyecups

The 3D Series binoculars feature twist-down eyecups. If you wear eyeglasses, twist the eyecups down completely to ensure a full field of view. If you do not wear eyeglasses, twist the eyecups up to a comfortable position that allows you to see the entire field of view without vignetting.

2.4 Focusing

  1. First, close your right eye and look through the left eyepiece. Rotate the central focus wheel until the image is sharp and clear.
  2. Next, close your left eye and look through the right eyepiece. Rotate the diopter adjustment ring (located on the right eyepiece) until the image is sharp and clear.
  3. Now, with both eyes open, use only the central focus wheel to focus on objects at varying distances. The diopter setting should only need to be adjusted once for your eyes.

3. Operation

The Carson 3D Series 8x42mm Binocular provides 8x magnification, making distant objects appear eight times closer. The 42mm objective lens diameter ensures ample light gathering for bright images. With a field of view of 341 feet at 1000 yards, these binoculars offer a wide perspective for observing landscapes, wildlife, or sporting events.

The precisely placed thumb grooves and textured body provide a secure and comfortable grip, making them ideal for extended use during activities such as hunting, bird watching, hiking, or attending concerts.

4. Maintenance and Care

4.1 Cleaning Lenses

To clean the lenses, first use the included lens cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe away any dust or loose debris. For stubborn smudges or fingerprints, apply a small amount of lens cleaning fluid to the cloth (not directly to the lens) and gently wipe in a circular motion. Avoid using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the lens coatings.

4.2 Cleaning the Body

The rubberized armor coating can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use solvents or harsh detergents. The rugged design is shock-resistant, but avoid unnecessary impacts.

4.3 Waterproof and Fog-proof Features

These binoculars are nitrogen-purged and O-ring sealed, making them fully waterproof and fog-proof. This means they can withstand exposure to rain, splashes, and humid environments without internal fogging. While designed for durability, avoid submerging them for extended periods or exposing them to extreme temperature changes unnecessarily.

4.4 Storage

When not in use, store the binoculars in the provided BinoArmor carrying case to protect them from dust, moisture, and physical damage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Blurry Image

  • Ensure the central focus wheel is properly adjusted for the distance of your target.
  • Verify the diopter setting on the right eyepiece is correctly set for your individual vision.
  • Check for dirt or smudges on the objective or ocular lenses and clean them as described in the Maintenance section.

5.2 Double Image or Eye Strain

  • Adjust the interpupillary distance by bending the binocular body at the hinge until a single, circular field of view is achieved.
  • Ensure your eyecups are set correctly for your use (up for non-eyeglass wearers, down for eyeglass wearers).

5.3 Internal Fogging

While these binoculars are fog-proof, extreme and rapid temperature changes can sometimes cause temporary external condensation. If internal fogging occurs, contact Carson customer support. Do not attempt to disassemble the binoculars.
