6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

It is recommended to replace the batteries annually or immediately when the "LOW BAT" indicator appears on the LED display. Refer to Section 4.2 for battery installation instructions. Always use new AA alkaline batteries.

6.2 Cleaning

To clean the exterior of your safe, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.

6.3 Key Storage

Ensure your emergency override keys are stored in a secure, easily accessible location that is separate from the safe itself.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Honeywell 5107 safe, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:

  • Keypad Not Responding or Displaying "LOW BAT":
    - Check the battery level. Replace all 4 AA batteries with new alkaline batteries. Ensure correct polarity.
    - If the issue persists after battery replacement, use the emergency override key to open the safe and contact customer support.
  • LED Display Shows "HOLD5":
    - This indicates that an incorrect code has been entered too many times consecutively.
    - The safe will automatically lock for a 5-minute period. Wait for the countdown to finish before attempting to enter the code again.
    - Alternatively, you can use the emergency override key to open the safe immediately.
  • Door Not Locking or Unlocking:
    - Ensure the safe door is fully closed and flush with the frame before attempting to lock.
    - Verify that you are entering the correct programmed code.
    - Check the battery level and replace batteries if necessary.
    - If the motorized bolts are not engaging or retracting, use the emergency override key to open the safe. If the problem continues, contact customer support.
  • Safe Interior Scratches (Upon Arrival):
    - While efforts are made to prevent this, some units may arrive with minor interior scratches due to the removable shelf shifting during transit. This is typically cosmetic and does not affect the safe's security or functionality.
