Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your outrigger poles. These poles are designed to be used with compatible TACO Marine Sport Slam Mounts (sold separately).

1. Mount Preparation: Ensure your Sport Slam Mounts are securely installed on your boat according to their specific instructions. The mounts should be positioned to allow full range of motion for the outrigger poles without obstruction.
2. Pole Insertion: Carefully insert the base of the 15' Black/Gold Tele Outrigger pole into the receiver of the Sport Slam Mount. Ensure the pole is fully seated and the locking mechanism (if present on the mount) is engaged.
3. Rigging Lines:
   • Thread your outrigger lines through the eyelets on the outrigger pole. Start from the top eyelet and work your way down.
   • Attach release clips to the outrigger lines at desired intervals.
   • Secure the end of the outrigger line to a cleat or designated attachment point on your boat.
4. Extension Check: Before use, fully extend and retract the outrigger pole to ensure smooth operation and proper rigging.

Operating Instructions

Using your telescopic outrigger poles effectively involves proper deployment and retrieval techniques.

Deployment:

1. Extend Poles: While the boat is stationary or moving slowly, carefully extend the telescopic sections of the outrigger pole to the desired length. Ensure each section locks securely into place.
2. Position Poles: Adjust the angle of the outrigger poles using your Sport Slam Mounts to achieve the optimal spread for your fishing lines. Typically, poles are angled outwards and slightly upwards.
3. Attach Lines: Clip your fishing lines into the release clips on the outrigger lines. Ensure the line is securely held but can release easily when a fish strikes.

Retrieval:

1. Remove Lines: Before retracting, remove all fishing lines from the release clips.
2. Retract Poles: Carefully retract the telescopic sections of the outrigger pole. Ensure each section collapses smoothly. Avoid forcing sections if they stick.
3. Stow Poles: Once fully retracted, position the outrigger poles in their designated stowed position on the Sport Slam Mounts, typically parallel to the boat's gunwale or upright.

• Rinse After Use: After each use, especially in saltwater, thoroughly rinse the outrigger poles with fresh water to remove salt residue and debris.

• Lubrication: Apply a marine-grade silicone spray or lubricant to the telescopic sections to ensure smooth extension and retraction. Do this sparingly and wipe off excess.
• Storage: When not in use, store the outrigger poles in a dry, protected area, preferably indoors or under a boat cover, to shield them from prolonged exposure to harsh weather and UV rays.
