Introduction

The RIDDEX Sonic Plus Ultrasonic Pest Repeller is designed for household use to deter various pests such as rodents and insects. This device operates by emitting ultrasonic waves that are generally inaudible to humans and common household pets like cats and dogs, but are intended to be disruptive to pests. It features a compact, plug-in design with an auxiliary outlet for convenience.

Safety Information

• Household Use Only: This device is intended for indoor household use only.
• Children and Pets: The ultrasonic waves are generally safe for children, cats, and dogs. However, it is important to note that the unit will affect household pets, computers, or appliances that are rodents (e.g., hamsters, gerbils, rabbits). Keep these types of pets away from the device's area of operation.
• Electrical Safety: The unit features a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) to reduce the risk of electric shock. Ensure the plug fits fully into the outlet. If it does not fit, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not force the plug.
• Auxiliary Outlet: The side outlet is for added convenience. Three-pronged appliances such as power tools, microwaves, or larger appliances should NOT be used with this auxiliary outlet. The maximum power draw is 8 amps.
• Power Surges: In case of lightning strike or power surge, the device will shut off to avoid any unit malfunction.
• No User Controls: The unit has no user controls. Do not tamper with the unit. There are no user-serviceable parts.

Setup

1. Unpack the Device: Carefully remove the RIDDEX Sonic Plus unit from its packaging.
2. Select Placement: Choose an indoor electrical outlet in an area where pest activity is observed or anticipated. For optimal coverage, place units in areas like kitchens, bedrooms, and living rooms. Avoid placing the unit behind large objects or furniture that could obstruct the ultrasonic waves.
3. Plug In: Insert the device into a standard 120V AC wall outlet. Ensure the polarized plug is inserted correctly.
4. Verify Operation: Once plugged in, the ultrasonic sound will turn on and off randomly. A clicking sound may be heard, which is normal. A red light indicator on the unit will flash to confirm operation.

Operating Instructions

The RIDDEX Sonic Plus operates continuously once plugged into an active electrical outlet. The unit emits ultrasonic waves at varying frequencies to deter pests. The red indicator light on the front of the unit will flash, indicating that the ultrasonic sound is actively being emitted. The device is designed to cover approximately 1000 square feet per unit. For larger areas, additional units may be required.

Suggestions for Best Results:

• Initial Clean-up: The device's effectiveness may take up to seven days to become noticeable. Glue boards and/or traps may be used to help during the initial clean-up period. After results have been obtained, it is not necessary to continue using traps.
• Placement: Take special care not to leave doors, windows, basement, or garage doors open, as this can allow new pests to enter.
• Food Sources: Take special care to avoid attracting new rodents when transferring food supplies, grains, animal feed, etc., from outside supply areas, into the area where the unit is in use.
• Increased Activity: During the initial clean-up period, an increase in rodent activity may be noticed. This is a temporary effect as pests are driven out.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a damp cloth to clean the unit. Do NOT use solvents, detergents, or immerse the unit in water.
• Storage: Unplug the unit when not in use for extended periods.

Troubleshooting

• Unit Not Functioning: If you experience any problems with the product, contact customer service. Do NOT attempt to dismantle or repair the unit yourself.
• No Visible Effect on Pests: The device's effectiveness may take up to seven days to become noticeable. Continued use is recommended. Ensure the unit is not obstructed by furniture or other objects.
• Flashing Red Light: A flashing red light indicates normal operation of the ultrasonic sound.
