2. Safety Information

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, please observe the following precautions:

  • Power Source: Connect the unit only to an AC outlet of the voltage specified on the rear panel.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not block ventilation openings. Allow sufficient space around the unit for proper airflow.

4. Connections

Before making any connections, ensure the AV receiver and all other components are turned off and unplugged from the power outlet.

4.1 Speaker Connections

Connect your 5.1 channel speaker system to the corresponding terminals on the rear of the receiver. Ensure correct polarity (+ to +, - to -) for each speaker.

  • Front Left/Right: Connect your main stereo speakers.
  • Center: Connect your center channel speaker.
  • Surround Left/Right: Connect your surround sound speakers.
  • Subwoofer: Connect your powered subwoofer to the SUBWOOFER PRE OUT jack.

4.2 Audio/Video Component Connections

Use HDMI cables for high-definition audio and video signals. For other devices, use optical, coaxial, or analog audio cables as appropriate.

  • HDMI Inputs: Connect your Blu-ray player, game console, or set-top box to the HDMI IN jacks.
  • HDMI Output: Connect the HDMI OUT jack to your TV or projector.
  • Digital Audio Inputs: For devices without HDMI, use OPTICAL or COAXIAL digital audio inputs.
  • Analog Audio Inputs: For older devices, use the RCA analog audio inputs.

4.3 Antenna Connections

Connect the supplied FM indoor antenna to the FM ANTENNA terminal and the AM loop antenna to the AM ANTENNA terminals for radio reception.

5. Initial Setup

After making all physical connections, proceed with the initial setup steps.

  1. Power On: Plug the power cord into an AC outlet and press the POWER button on the front panel or remote control.
  2. Input Selection: Use the INPUT SELECTOR buttons to choose the desired input source (e.g., HDMI 1, CD, TV).
  3. Speaker Level Calibration: Manually adjust the output level for each speaker (Front L/R, Center, Surround L/R, Subwoofer) to achieve balanced sound. This model requires manual calibration as an auto-setup microphone is not included.
  4. Sound Mode Selection: Select a suitable sound mode (e.g., Stereo, Dolby Digital, DTS) using the LISTENING MODE buttons on the remote control.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press the POWER button.
  • Volume Control: Use the VOLUME +/- buttons on the front panel or remote control.
  • Input Switching: Press the corresponding input selector button (e.g., BD/DVD, GAME, CD) on the remote or front panel.
  • Muting: Press the MUTE button on the remote control to temporarily silence the audio.

6.2 Sound Modes

The receiver supports various sound modes to optimize your listening experience. Use the LISTENING MODE buttons on the remote to cycle through available options.

  • Direct/Stereo: For pure two-channel audio playback.
  • Dolby Digital/DTS: For multi-channel movie soundtracks.
  • Surround Modes: Various modes to simulate surround sound from stereo sources.

6.3 Tuner Operation

To listen to FM/AM radio:

  1. Press the TUNER input selector button.
  2. Use the TUNING +/- buttons to select a station.
  3. Press MEMORY to store a station as a preset.

Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity of your AV receiver.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 No Power

  • Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the receiver and the wall outlet.
  • Check if the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.

8.2 No Sound

  • Verify that the correct input source is selected.
  • Check speaker connections for proper polarity and secure fit.
  • Ensure the volume is not set to minimum and the MUTE function is not active.

8.3 No Video

  • Ensure the correct input source is selected on the receiver.
  • Verify that the HDMI cable from the receiver's HDMI OUT to the TV is securely connected.
  • Check the input selection on your TV.

8.4 Remote Control Not Working

  • Replace the batteries with new ones.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the receiver's remote sensor.
  • Point the remote control directly at the receiver.
