Key Features:

  • Dual Tank Technology: Keeps clean and dirty water separate, ensuring you never apply dirty water back onto the floor.
  • Simple Mode Selection: A dial allows for easy switching between vacuuming, washing, and drying modes.
  • Clean Boost Control: Fingertip control to apply extra detergent to stains and high-traffic areas.
  • Design: Features a 15-inch removable nozzle, 27-foot cord, and a foldable handle for compact storage.

Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Handle Assembly: Attach the handle to the main unit according to the instructions provided in the quick start guide. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
  3. Fill Clean Water Tank: Remove the clean water tank (usually located at the top or front of the unit). Fill it with warm water and the recommended Hoover hard floor cleaning solution. Do not overfill.
  4. Secure Tanks: Place the clean water tank back onto the unit, ensuring it is properly seated. Verify the dirty water tank is empty and correctly installed.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

Operating Instructions

The Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub offers three distinct modes for comprehensive hard floor cleaning.

Mode Selection:

  • Vacuum Mode: For dry pickup of loose debris before wet cleaning. The SpinScrub brushes will not rotate in this mode.
  • Wash Mode: For wet scrubbing and cleaning. The SpinScrub brushes will rotate, and cleaning solution will be dispensed.
  • Dry Mode: For picking up excess water and drying the floor after washing. The SpinScrub brushes will not rotate in this mode.

General Operation:

  1. Pre-Vacuum (Optional but Recommended): For best results, use the 'Vacuum' mode to pick up loose dirt, dust, and pet hair before wet cleaning. This prevents debris from being pushed around during washing.
  2. Washing: Select 'Wash' mode. Press the solution trigger while pushing the unit forward to dispense cleaning solution and scrub the floor. Release the trigger and pull the unit backward over the same path to vacuum up the dirty solution. Overlap passes slightly. For heavily soiled areas, use the 'Clean Boost' feature by pressing the dedicated button to apply extra detergent.
  3. Drying: After washing, switch to 'Dry' mode. Make several passes over the cleaned area without pressing the solution trigger to remove as much moisture as possible. This helps floors dry faster and prevents streaks.
  4. Empty Dirty Water Tank: Regularly check and empty the dirty water tank when it reaches the 'Max Fill' line or after each use.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub.

  1. Empty and Clean Dirty Water Tank: After each use, empty the dirty water tank and rinse it thoroughly with clean water. Allow it to air dry.
  2. Clean SpinScrub Brushes: Remove the SpinScrub brush assembly. Rinse the brushes under running water to remove any trapped debris, hair, or residue. Ensure all brushes spin freely.
  3. Clean Nozzle: The 15-inch removable nozzle should be cleaned regularly to prevent clogs and maintain suction. Remove it and rinse under water.
  4. Filter Maintenance: The replacement filter (SKU # 902.6618) should be cleaned regularly. Remove the filter, tap out loose debris, and rinse if necessary. Ensure it is completely dry before reinserting. Leaving the filter wet can lead to odors and reduced suction.
  5. Storage: Store the unit in a dry, clean area. Ensure both tanks are empty and clean before storage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Hoover FloorMate SpinScrub, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Reduced Suction or Not Picking Up Debris/Water:
    • Check if the dirty water tank is full and needs emptying.
    • Ensure the dirty water tank and its lid are correctly seated and sealed. A loose lid or tank can cause air leaks, reducing suction.
    • Inspect the nozzle for clogs or damage to the squeegee edges. Clean any blockages and ensure the nozzle is properly attached.
    • Clean the filter. A clogged filter can severely restrict airflow. Ensure it is dry before reinstallation.
    • For pet hair, ensure you are using the 'Vacuum' mode for initial dry pickup. If hair still sticks to brushes, ensure brushes are clean and not tangled.
  • Water Leaking:
    • Verify the clean water tank is properly installed and its cap is securely tightened.
    • Check the O-ring on the clean water tank for damage or improper seating.
    • Ensure all tanks and covers are correctly aligned and sealed.
  • Brushes Not Spinning:
    • Ensure the unit is in 'Wash' mode. Brushes do not spin in 'Vacuum' or 'Dry' modes.
    • Check for obstructions (e.g., hair, debris) wrapped around the brushes. Clean the brush assembly thoroughly.
