Setup
Initial Charging
Upon receiving your watch, it may be in a low power state. Expose the watch face to light for initial charging. Approximately 5 minutes of bright sunlight through a window or 8 hours of indoor fluorescent lighting is recommended to reach a sufficient charge level. Ensure the watch is regularly exposed to light to maintain its charge.
Time Calibration Signal Reception
The GW2310-1 automatically receives time calibration signals up to six times a day (five times a day for the Chinese calibration signal) to maintain accurate time. Manual reception is also possible. The watch receives signals from various locations including Mainflingen, Germany (DCF77); Anthorn, England (MSF); Fort Collins, Colorado, USA (WWVB); Fukushima, Japan (JJY); Fukuoka/Saga, Japan (JJY); and Shangqiu City, Henan Province, China (BPC).
Setting Your Home City
To ensure correct timekeeping and World Time functionality, set your Home City. This allows the watch to automatically adjust for daylight saving time and receive the appropriate time calibration signal. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual for specific steps on setting your Home City.
Operating the Watch
Navigating Modes
Use the 'MODE' button (typically on the lower left side) to cycle through the watch's various modes: Timekeeping, World Time, Alarm, Stopwatch, and Countdown Timer.
Timekeeping Mode
This is the default mode, displaying the current time, day, and date. You can switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats. The watch features a full auto-calendar pre-programmed until the year 2099.
World Time Mode
View the current time in 48 cities across 31 time zones. This mode is useful for travelers or those who need to track time in different regions.
Alarm Mode
The watch includes five daily alarms, one of which is a snooze alarm. An hourly time signal can also be activated.
Stopwatch Mode
The stopwatch measures time with 1/100-second accuracy, up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. It supports elapsed time, split time, and two finishes measurements.
Countdown Timer Mode
Set a countdown from 1 minute up to 24 hours, in 1-minute and 1-hour increments.
Illumination (EL Backlight)
The watch features an EL (electro-luminescent) panel for illumination. The Full Auto Light Switch function automatically turns on the backlight when you tilt your wrist towards your face in dim conditions. To activate the Auto EL function, press and hold the 'G' button (typically located at the bottom center of the watch face) for a few seconds until the auto light switch-on indicator appears on the display. You can also select the illumination duration.
Maintenance
Solar Charging
To ensure optimal performance and battery life, regularly expose your watch to light. Avoid prolonged storage in dark places. The solar panel converts light into electrical energy, charging the internal battery.
Water Resistance
The GW2310-1 is water-resistant to 200 meters (660 feet), making it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. Do not operate buttons underwater. After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and wipe it dry.
Cleaning
Wipe the watch and band with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and moisture. For stubborn dirt, use a soft brush with mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
Troubleshooting
Time Synchronization Issues
If your watch is not synchronizing with the atomic time signal, ensure it is placed in a location where it can receive the signal, typically near a window, especially overnight. Signal reception can be affected by geographical location, weather conditions, and electronic interference. Try performing a manual reception.
Auto EL Not Activating
Verify that the Auto EL function is turned on. The auto light switch-on indicator should be visible on the display. If it is not, press and hold the 'G' button for a few seconds to activate it. The Auto EL function typically operates only in dim lighting conditions.
Low Power Indicator
If the watch display shows a low power indicator or functions become erratic, expose the watch to bright light for an extended period to fully charge the battery. The watch may require several hours of direct sunlight or a full day under strong artificial light to recover.
