Setup and Installation

This section outlines the steps for installing the Broan QTRE080FLFT finish kit into the separately purchased QTXR000HL housing.

Tools Required:

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and Flathead)

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare Housing: Ensure the QTXR000HL housing is securely installed in the ceiling according to its own instruction manual. The housing is designed to fit 2" x 8" construction.
  2. Connect Ducting: Connect the 4-inch ducting to the housing's duct connector and secure it with appropriate clamps (not included). Ensure the ducting leads to the outside.
  3. Wiring: With power disconnected, connect the electrical wiring from the junction box to the housing's wiring. Follow the wiring diagram provided with the QTXR000HL housing. Ensure all connections are secure and insulated.
  4. Install Motor Plate Assembly:

    Carefully insert the motor plate assembly (motor and wheel attached) into the housing. Secure it using the provided screws or clips, ensuring it is firmly seated.

  5. Install Light Bulbs: Insert the two (2) 18-watt GU24 fluorescent bulbs into their respective sockets on the motor plate. If using a nightlight, install the 4-watt nightlight bulb (sold separately) into its designated socket.
  6. Attach Grille:

    Align the grille with the housing and push it up until the torsion springs or mounting clips snap into place, securing the grille flush against the ceiling.

  7. Restore Power: Once installation is complete and all connections are secure, restore power at the service panel.

Operating Instructions

The Broan QTRE080FLFT operates via standard wall switches. Depending on your wiring configuration, you may have separate switches for the fan, main light, and nightlight.

  • Fan Operation: Flip the designated wall switch to turn the exhaust fan ON or OFF. The fan is designed for continuous operation and provides 80 CFM of airflow with a very quiet 0.8 Sones sound level.
  • Main Light Operation: Flip the designated wall switch to turn the 36-watt fluorescent light ON or OFF.
  • Nightlight Operation (Optional): If a nightlight bulb was installed and wired separately, flip its designated wall switch to turn the nightlight ON or OFF.

Note: This unit is not compatible with solid-state speed control devices.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Broan QTRE080FLFT fan/light. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

Cleaning the Grille:

  • Gently pull down the grille to disengage the torsion springs or clips.
  • Wash the grille in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reattaching.
  • Wipe the light lens with a soft, damp cloth.

Cleaning the Fan Assembly:

  • With the grille removed and power disconnected, carefully wipe the fan wheel and motor housing with a damp cloth.
  • Do not immerse the motor in water.
  • Ensure all parts are dry before restoring power.

Bulb Replacement:

  • Disconnect power.
  • Remove the grille.
  • Carefully twist and pull out the old GU24 fluorescent bulbs.
  • Insert new GU24 fluorescent bulbs (18-watt, compact fluorescent).
  • For the nightlight, replace with a 4-watt incandescent nightlight bulb (if applicable).
  • Reattach the grille and restore power.
