2. Safety Information
Observe the following safety precautions during installation and operation:
- Do not open the UPS casing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Do not install the UPS in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in environments with excessive dust, moisture, or corrosive substances.
- Ensure the UPS is connected to a properly grounded AC power outlet.
- Do not connect non-computer-related equipment (e.g., medical equipment, life support systems) to the UPS.
- The UPS contains internal batteries. Battery service should be performed or supervised by personnel knowledgeable of batteries and the required precautions.
- Always disconnect the UPS from the AC power source before performing any maintenance or installation procedures.

4. Setup
4.1 Physical Installation
The SMART2200RM2U UPS can be installed in a 2U rackmount configuration or as a tower unit using the included accessories.
Rackmount Installation:
Mount the UPS into an EIA-standard 19-inch rack using the provided rackmount hardware. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

4.2 Connecting Equipment
Connect your critical equipment to the UPS outlets. The SMART2200RM2U features one L5-20R and six 5-20R outlets. Four of the 5-20R outlets are split into two independently switchable load banks, allowing for load shedding of non-critical devices.

4.3 Initial Power-Up
After connecting all equipment, plug the UPS power cord into a dedicated, grounded AC outlet. Press and hold the power button on the front panel until the UPS powers on. The LCD screen will illuminate, displaying operational status.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Front Panel LCD Interface
The two-line front-panel LCD provides real-time information on UPS operating mode, detailed UPS and site power data, and allows for various setup and configuration options. Use the navigation buttons to scroll through the ten selectable screens.
LED indicators provide quick status updates: a blue light indicates normal operation, a blinking blue light signals attention is needed, and a red light indicates a critical issue.
5.2 Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)
The SMART2200RM2U features Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct brownouts and overvoltages without switching to battery power. This preserves battery life for actual power outages. The UPS maintains a regulated 120V nominal output during input voltage fluctuations from 80V to 151V.
5.3 Network Management (Optional)
For advanced remote management, the UPS supports an optional LX Platform Network Management Card (WEBCARDLXE, sold separately). This card enables full remote configuration, load shedding, reboots of connected equipment, and safe shutdowns. The IP-based Auto Probe feature ensures continuous network uptime by detecting lost connectivity and automatically rebooting IT equipment.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Battery Replacement
The SMART2200RM2U features field-replaceable, hot-swappable VRLA battery modules. This allows for battery replacement without powering down connected equipment. Refer to the specific battery replacement instructions provided with your replacement battery kit or contact Tripp Lite support for guidance.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your UPS, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- UPS does not turn on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a live AC outlet. Check the circuit breaker.
- UPS is beeping continuously: This typically indicates a low battery or an overload condition. Check the LCD for specific error messages. Reduce the connected load if overloaded.
- Connected equipment loses power during an outage: Verify that the total load connected to the UPS does not exceed its capacity (1950W). Ensure batteries are fully charged and not at end-of-life.
- UPS fan is loud: The UPS has cooling fans that adjust speed based on load and internal temperature. Increased fan noise during heavy load or battery charging is normal. If noise is excessive or constant at low load, contact support.
- No network connectivity with optional network card: Verify network cable connection, IP settings, and ensure the network card is properly installed and configured.
For more complex issues, consult the full user manual or contact technical support.
