Setting Time and Date

  1. Pull the Crown: Gently pull the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch case) out to the first click position to set the date, or to the second click position to set the time.
  2. Set the Date: If in the first click position, rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the day and date.
  3. Set the Time: If in the second click position, rotate the crown to move the hands to the correct time. Ensure you account for AM/PM if your watch has a 24-hour indicator or a day/night cycle.
  4. Push the Crown Back: Once the time and date are set, push the crown back into its original position to start the watch.

Adjusting the Expansion Band

Your Timex South Street Sport watch features a two-tone stainless steel expansion band designed for comfort and ease of wear. This band is designed to fit a wide range of wrist sizes, up to 8 inches. If the band is too loose, it may be possible to remove links for a more secure fit. This process typically involves bending out small tabs on the side of the links and removing fasteners. For precise adjustment, especially if you are unfamiliar with watch band adjustments, it is recommended to consult a professional jeweler or watch repair service.

Operating Your Watch

Indiglo Night-Light

Your Timex watch is equipped with the Indiglo night-light feature, which illuminates the entire watch dial for easy readability in low-light conditions. To activate the Indiglo night-light, simply press and hold the crown. The light will remain on as long as the crown is pressed.

Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet). This means it is suitable for splashes, rain, or brief immersion in water. However, it is not suitable for swimming, bathing, showering, or diving. Avoid pressing the crown or operating any buttons while the watch is wet to prevent water intrusion.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch, regularly wipe the case and band with a soft, dry cloth. For the stainless steel band, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish.

Battery Replacement

Your watch is powered by a Lithium Metal battery. When the battery needs replacement, it is highly recommended to take your watch to an authorized Timex service center or a reputable jeweler. Attempting to replace the battery yourself may void the warranty and could compromise the watch's water resistance.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running:
    • Check if the crown is fully pushed in. If it is pulled out, the watch will not run.
    • The battery may need replacement. Refer to the "Battery Replacement" section.
  • Date Not Changing:
    • Ensure the time is set correctly, especially the AM/PM cycle. The date typically changes around midnight.
    • Manually advance the date using the crown as described in the "Setting Time and Date" section.
  • Condensation Under Crystal:
    • Small amounts of condensation may clear up on their own. If persistent or significant, this indicates a loss of water resistance. Contact customer support immediately.
