Introduction
Welcome to the magical world of Monopoly Disney Edition! This classic property trading game combines the strategic fun of Monopoly with the enchanting characters and locations from your favorite Disney films. Race around the board, acquire iconic Disney properties, build cottages and castles, and collect rent from your opponents. The goal is to become the wealthiest player and drive your opponents into bankruptcy.
Setup
Follow these steps to prepare your game for play:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all game components from the box. Ensure you have the game board, 6 Disney character tokens, 2 dice, 32 cottages, 12 castles, 16 Chance cards, 16 Community Chest cards, 28 Title Deed cards, and Monopoly money.
- Set Up the Board: Unfold the game board and place it on a flat surface.
- Place Cards: Shuffle the Chance cards and place them face down on the designated "Chance" space on the board. Shuffle the Community Chest cards and place them face down on the designated "Community Chest" space.
- Banker Selection: One player is chosen as the Banker. The Banker is responsible for all money and property not yet owned. The Banker may also play, but must keep their personal money separate from the Bank's.
- Distribute Money: Each player receives the following starting money from the Bank:
- 2 x $500 bills
- 2 x $100 bills
- 2 x $50 bills
- 6 x $20 bills
- 5 x $10 bills
- 5 x $5 bills
- 5 x $1 bills
- Choose Tokens: Each player selects one of the 6 unique Disney character tokens and places it on the "GO" space.

Operating (How to Play)
The game proceeds in turns, with players moving their tokens around the board, buying and trading properties, and developing them with cottages and castles. The ultimate goal is to bankrupt all other players.
Player Turn Sequence:
- Roll the Dice: The player whose turn it is rolls both dice and moves their token clockwise around the board the number of spaces indicated.
- Landing on a Space: The action a player takes depends on the space their token lands on:
- Unowned Property: You may buy the property from the Bank for the price printed on the space. If you choose not to buy it, the Banker immediately offers it for auction to the highest bidder.
- Owned Property: If the property is owned by another player, you must pay them rent as indicated on the Title Deed card. Rent increases if the property is part of a color set or has cottages/castles built on it.
- Chance or Community Chest: Draw the top card from the respective pile and follow its instructions. Return the card to the bottom of the pile after use, unless it's a "Get Out of Jail Free" card.
- Go: When you pass or land on "GO", collect $200 from the Bank.
- Jail: Landing on "Go to Jail" sends you directly to Jail. You do not collect $200 for passing Go.
- Free Parking: This is a "rest" space; no action is required.
- Income Tax/Luxury Tax: Pay the specified amount to the Bank.
- Doubles: If you roll doubles, take your turn as usual, then roll the dice again for another turn. If you roll doubles three times in a row, you immediately go to Jail.
- Buying and Building:
- Buying Properties: To buy a property, pay the Bank the price shown on the board. You receive the Title Deed card.
- Building Cottages and Castles: Once you own all properties in a color set, you can begin building cottages and castles on them. You must build evenly across the properties in a set. Cottages are built first, then castles (which replace 4 cottages).
- Trading: Players can trade properties, money, and "Get Out of Jail Free" cards with each other at any time.
- Bankruptcy: If you owe more money than you can pay, even by mortgaging properties or selling cottages/castles, you are bankrupt and out of the game. All your assets are turned over to the player you owe or to the Bank.
Winning the Game:
The last player remaining in the game, after all others have gone bankrupt, is the winner!
Maintenance
Proper care will ensure your Monopoly Disney Edition game lasts for many years of enjoyment.
- Storage: After playing, carefully return all game components to their designated compartments within the game box. Ensure the board is folded correctly to prevent damage. Store the box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe down the game board and plastic components if they become dusty. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these may damage the printed surfaces or plastic.
- Handling: Handle game cards and money with clean, dry hands to prevent wear and tear.
Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and their solutions:
- Missing Components: If any game pieces are missing upon opening, please contact the manufacturer (Hasbro) for assistance. Refer to the contact information usually found on the game box or their official website.
- Rules Disputes: In case of disagreements over rules, refer to this instruction manual for clarification. For situations not explicitly covered, players may agree on "house rules" before starting the game.
- Game Length: Monopoly can be a long game. To shorten play, consider setting a time limit or agreeing to end the game when a certain number of players are bankrupt, with the wealthiest player winning.
