2. Loading Film
The Olympus Shoot & Go R uses 35mm film. It supports film speeds of 100, 200, or 400 ASA (ISO).
- Open the film compartment door on the back of the camera by sliding the latch downwards.
- Place the film cartridge into the film chamber on the left side.
- Pull the film leader across to the take-up spool on the right, ensuring it catches onto one of the slots.
- Close the film compartment door firmly until it clicks shut.
- Advance the film by turning the film advance wheel until the film counter shows '1'.
- Set the film speed (ISO) dial on the top of the camera to match the film loaded (100, 200, or 400).
Operating the Camera
Taking a Photo
- Open the lens cover by sliding the switch on the front of the camera.
- Look through the viewfinder to compose your shot.
- Press the shutter button located on the top of the camera to take the picture.
- After taking a photo, manually advance the film using the film advance wheel until the next frame number appears in the film counter.
Using the Built-in Flash
The camera features a built-in flash for low-light conditions and red-eye reduction.
- To activate the flash, slide the flash switch to the 'on' position.
- Wait for the flash ready lamp (usually a small light near the flash) to illuminate, indicating the flash is charged.
- The Shoot & Go R model includes a red-eye reduction feature. When the flash is activated, a pre-flash or light will emit before the main flash to minimize red-eye in portraits.
Unloading Film
Once all exposures on the film roll have been used, the film must be rewound back into its cartridge before opening the film door.
- Locate the film rewind button on the bottom of the camera. Press and hold this button.
- Turn the film rewind crank (usually on the top or side of the camera) in the direction of the arrow until you feel the tension release, indicating the film is fully rewound into the cartridge.
- Open the film compartment door.
- Remove the film cartridge for development.
Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life of your camera.
- Cleaning the Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for camera lenses. Avoid touching the lens surface with your fingers.
- Cleaning the Camera Body: Wipe the camera body with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: When not in use, store the camera in its provided carry case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
- Protection: Always keep the lens cover closed when the camera is not in use to protect the lens from dust and scratches.
