1. Introduction

4. Setup
4.1 Attaching the Lens
Align the white index mark on the lens with the white index mark on the camera body. Rotate the lens clockwise until it clicks into place. To remove, press the lens release button and rotate counter-clockwise.
4.2 Inserting the Battery
Open the battery compartment cover located at the bottom of the camera. Insert the battery with the correct orientation, ensuring the contacts align. Close the cover securely.
4.3 Inserting a Memory Card
Open the memory card slot cover. Insert an SD or SDHC memory card with the label facing the front of the camera until it clicks. Close the cover securely.

5. Operating the Camera
5.1 Power On/Off
Slide the power switch to the ON position to turn on the camera. Slide it to OFF to power down.
5.2 Using the Viewfinder and LCD
The DMC-G1 features both an electronic viewfinder (EVF) and a vari-angle 3.0-inch LCD screen. Use the LVF/LCD button to switch between the two displays. The LCD can be rotated for flexible shooting angles.

5.3 Shooting Modes
Rotate the mode dial on the top of the camera to select your desired shooting mode:
- Intelligent Auto (iA): Camera automatically selects optimal settings.
- Program AE (P): Camera sets aperture and shutter speed, you control other settings.
- Aperture Priority AE (A): You set aperture, camera sets shutter speed.
- Shutter Priority AE (S): You set shutter speed, camera sets aperture.
- Manual Exposure (M): You control both aperture and shutter speed.
- Scene Modes: Pre-set modes for specific situations (e.g., Portrait, Landscape).
5.4 Autofocus and Exposure Lock
Press the shutter button halfway to activate autofocus and exposure. The AF/AE LOCK button can be used to lock focus and exposure settings before recomposing your shot.
