Operating Instructions

Filling the Tank

The 4-gallon translucent tank allows for easy monitoring of liquid levels. Use the 5-inch opening with the integrated filter cap to prevent debris from entering the tank during filling. Always mix chemicals according to manufacturer instructions. It is recommended to fill the tank halfway with water, add the chemical concentrate, and then fill to the desired level to ensure proper mixing.

Pumping and Spraying

Pump the handle to build pressure within the tank. The handle features a comfortable grip and a lock-on feature for continuous spraying, reducing hand fatigue. The integrated pressure gauge on the handle allows you to monitor the pressure for consistent application.

Nozzles and Spray Patterns

The Chapin 61900 includes three types of nozzles to suit different spraying needs:

  • Adjustable Brass Nozzle: Provides a spray pattern from a coarse stream to a fine cone.
  • Adjustable Poly-Cone Nozzle: Offers a versatile spray from a fine mist to a solid stream.
  • Poly Fan Nozzle: Delivers a wide, flat fan spray pattern, ideal for broad coverage.

Nozzles can be easily interchanged by unscrewing the current nozzle and screwing on the desired one. Ensure the rubber gasket is in place for a secure, leak-free connection.

Optional CFValve™ (Control Flow Valve)

The optional CFValve™ maintains constant pressure and consistent flow to the nozzle, even with changing pressure from manual or mechanical pump action. This helps achieve uniform coverage and can reduce chemical waste. Install it by unscrewing the existing nozzle assembly and screwing the CFValve™ in place, then reattaching the desired nozzle to the CFValve™.

Filtration System

The Chapin 61900 features a 3-stage standard filtration system to prevent clogs and ensure smooth operation:

  • Cap Filter: Located in the tank cap, this removable and cleanable filter limits debris from entering the tank during filling.
  • In-tank Filter: Positioned inside the tank near the pump, this removable and cleanable filter protects the hose from clogs.
  • Shut-off Filter: Found within the shut-off handle, this removable and cleanable filter protects the nozzle from clogs.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sprayer. After each use, thoroughly rinse the tank, hose, and wand with clean water. Periodically remove and clean all three filters (cap, in-tank, and shut-off) to prevent buildup and clogs. Store the sprayer in a clean, dry place, ideally with the wand secured in its designated holder on the lid.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your sprayer, first check all three filters for clogs and clean them if necessary. Ensure all connections (hose to tank, wand to handle) are secure and leak-free. Verify that the pump handle is properly installed and operating to build sufficient pressure. For further assistance, refer to the detailed troubleshooting guide in the user manual or contact Chapin International customer support.
