2. Setup Instructions

2.1 Unpacking and Placement

  • Carefully remove the heater and all packaging materials from the box.
  • Place the heater on a level, non-combustible surface, away from walls, furniture, and other flammable objects. Ensure adequate clearance around the heater as specified in the safety guidelines.
  • Ensure the area is well-ventilated. Kerosene heaters require fresh air for safe operation.

2.2 Fueling the Heater

Use only 1-K grade kerosene. Never use gasoline, diesel, or any other fuel, as this can cause fire or explosion.

  1. Ensure the heater is turned off and cool to the touch.
  2. Remove the fuel tank cap.
  3. Using a clean funnel or siphon pump, carefully fill the fuel tank with 1-K kerosene. Do not overfill. The fuel gauge will indicate the level.
  4. Securely replace the fuel tank cap.
  5. Allow the wick to soak in the kerosene for at least 30 minutes before the first lighting to ensure it is fully saturated.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Lighting the Heater

Ensure the wick is fully saturated with kerosene before lighting.

  1. Turn the wick adjustment knob to the 'HIGH' position to raise the wick.
  2. Automatic Ignition: Push the ignition button or lever (often red) to activate the igniter and light the wick. Hold until the flame is stable.
  3. Manual Ignition: If automatic ignition fails or is not present, open the burner door and use a long-stemmed lighter or match to ignite the wick. Close the burner door once lit.
  4. After lighting, allow the flame to stabilize for a few minutes.

3.2 Adjusting Heat Output

Use the wick adjustment knob to control the flame height and heat output.

  • Turn the knob towards 'HIGH' for a larger flame and more heat.
  • Turn the knob towards 'LOW' for a smaller flame and less heat.
  • The ideal flame height is typically about 1/2 inch above the burner, appearing bright orange-red without excessive yellow tips or smoke.

3.3 Shutting Down the Heater

To turn off the heater, push the manual shut-off lever or turn the wick adjustment knob to the 'OFF' position. The flame will extinguish.

3.4 Safety Precautions During Operation

  • Always ensure adequate ventilation by opening a window or door slightly.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Wick Care and Replacement

Regular wick maintenance is crucial for efficient and clean burning. If the wick becomes hard, charred, or produces excessive smoke/odor, it may need cleaning or replacement.

  • Wick Cleaning: Burn the heater until the fuel tank is empty and the wick is completely dry. This process, known as 'dry burning', helps to burn off carbon deposits. Allow the heater to cool completely before inspecting the wick.
  • Wick Replacement: If cleaning does not restore proper function, the wick may need to be replaced. Refer to the specific instructions provided with your replacement wick for detailed steps.
