Introduction

The GSI Creos Mr. Surfacer 1200 Spray (Model B515) is a versatile product designed for model preparation. It functions as both a primer and a mild filler agent, effectively preparing surfaces for painting. Safety Information

Setup

4. Drying Time Between Coats: Allow sufficient drying time between coats (typically 5-10 minutes, depending on humidity and temperature) to prevent runs and ensure proper adhesion.
5. Full Cure Time: The product has a dry time of approximately 1 hour. For best results and before sanding or applying topcoats, allow the surfacer to cure fully, ideally for 24 hours.
6. Sanding (Optional): Once fully dry, you can lightly sand the surfacer with fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 1000-2000 grit) to achieve an even smoother finish or to remove any minor dust particles.

Maintenance

• Clear Nozzle After Use: After each use, invert the can and spray for a few seconds until only clear propellant comes out. This prevents the nozzle from clogging.
• Storage: Store the can upright in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and sources of ignition. Ensure the cap is securely replaced.
• Disposal: Dispose of empty cans according to local regulations for aerosol products. Do not incinerate.

Troubleshooting

Uneven Spray Pattern or Spitting:

Ensure the can is thoroughly shaken before and during use. The nozzle might be partially clogged; try cleaning it by spraying upside down or replacing it if necessary.

Rough or Grainy Finish:

This can occur if the can is held too far from the surface, causing the surfacer to dry in the air before reaching the model. Adjust your spraying distance to 8-12 inches. Also, ensure the environment is not too dry or windy.

Runs or Sags:

This indicates too much product was applied in one coat or the can was held too close. Apply thinner coats and allow adequate drying time between applications.

Poor Adhesion:

Ensure the model surface is clean, dry, and free of contaminants like oil or mold release agents. Lightly sanding the surface before application can improve adhesion.
