Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the sharpener from its packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Placement: Place the sharpener on a stable, flat, and non-slip surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for safe operation.
  3. Power Connection: Plug the 120-volt power cord into a standard electrical outlet. Ensure the power switch on the sharpener is in the "OFF" position before plugging in.

Operating Instructions

Electric Sharpening (Coarse Stage)

This stage uses electric sharpening wheels for initial sharpening of dull knives. The blade guides ensure the correct sharpening angle.

  1. Turn the power switch to the "ON" position. The sharpening wheels will begin to rotate.
  2. Insert the heel of the knife blade into the left electric sharpening slot (Stage 1).
  3. Pull the knife slowly and steadily towards you, allowing the blade to be sharpened from heel to tip. Apply light, consistent downward pressure.
  4. Repeat the process in the right electric sharpening slot (Stage 1) for the other side of the blade.
  5. Perform 3-5 pulls through each slot, alternating sides, until the blade is sharp.

Manual Honing (Fine Stage)

This stage uses crossed ceramic rods to refine the edge, remove burrs, and provide a polished finish.

  1. Ensure the electric sharpener is turned "OFF" or unplugged for manual honing.
  2. Insert the heel of the knife blade into the manual sharpening slot (Stage 2).
  3. Pull the knife slowly and steadily towards you, from heel to tip, applying light downward pressure.
  4. Repeat this process 5-10 times, or until the desired sharpness is achieved.

Note: For best results, always finish with the manual honing stage after electric sharpening.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, unplug the sharpener. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
  • Removing Metal Filings: The sharpener is designed to collect metal filings. Periodically, turn the unit upside down and gently tap it to dislodge any accumulated filings. You may also use a small brush to clean the sharpening slots.
  • Storage: Store the sharpener in a dry, safe place away from extreme temperatures and moisture.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Sharpener does not turn on. Not plugged in; power switch off; power outlet malfunction. Ensure unit is securely plugged in. Check power switch. Test outlet with another appliance.
Knife not sharpening effectively. Incorrect technique; excessive pressure; worn sharpening wheels. Review operating instructions for proper technique. Apply lighter, consistent pressure. If wheels are worn, contact customer support for replacement options.
Excessive noise during operation. Foreign object in slots; unit not on stable surface. Unplug and inspect slots for debris. Ensure unit is on a firm, flat surface.
