Package Contents

  • Aqua-Pure SST1HA Filter Housing (Stainless Steel Sump)
  • Mounting Bracket
  • Wrench
  • Note: Filter cartridge is not included and must be purchased separately.

Installation (Setup)

Tools and Materials Required (Not Included):

  • Appropriate plumbing fittings (3/4 inch NPT)
  • Pipe sealant or Teflon tape
  • Drill and mounting hardware (screws, anchors)
  • Shut-off valves (recommended for ease of maintenance)
  • Compatible filter cartridge

Installation Steps:

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate and turn off the main water supply valve to your home or the specific area where the filter will be installed.
  2. Depressurize System: Open a nearby faucet to relieve water pressure in the lines.
  3. Mount the Bracket: Select a suitable location for the filter, ensuring adequate clearance for cartridge replacement. Use the provided mounting bracket as a template to mark and drill holes. Securely attach the mounting bracket to a sturdy surface using appropriate hardware.
  4. Install Filter Head: Attach the filter head to the mounting bracket.
  5. Connect Plumbing: Apply pipe sealant or Teflon tape to the threads of your 3/4 inch NPT plumbing fittings. Connect the inlet and outlet pipes to the filter head. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks. Consider installing shut-off valves on both the inlet and outlet sides for easier future maintenance.
  6. Insert Cartridge: Unscrew the sump (bottom part) from the filter head using the provided wrench. Insert the desired filter cartridge into the sump. Ensure the O-ring is properly seated and lubricated (if necessary) before reattaching the sump to the head. Hand-tighten, then use the wrench for a final snug turn. Do not overtighten.
  7. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check for leaks around all connections.
  8. Flush System: Open a downstream faucet to flush the system for several minutes until the water runs clear and any trapped air is expelled.

Operation

Once installed and flushed, the Aqua-Pure SST1HA filter operates continuously as water flows through it. The filter requires no electrical power, functioning via manual operation. Water enters the inlet, passes through the installed filter cartridge, and exits through the outlet, providing filtered water to your system.

Compatible Cartridges:

  • Dirt/Rust: AP1001, AP1003, AP110, AP111, AP124
  • Taste/Odor: AP117
  • Scale: AP420
  • Triple-Action: APS117

Note: Flow rates are based on the use of Dirt/Rust filter cartridges.

Maintenance

Cartridge Replacement:

The frequency of cartridge replacement depends on water quality and usage. It is generally recommended to replace cartridges every 3 to 6 months, or when a noticeable drop in water pressure occurs.

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Turn off the main water supply or the shut-off valves installed before and after the filter.
  2. Depressurize System: Open a downstream faucet to relieve pressure.
  3. Remove Sump: Place a bucket underneath the filter to catch any residual water. Use the provided wrench to unscrew the sump from the filter head.
  4. Remove Old Cartridge: Discard the used filter cartridge.
  5. Clean Sump: Clean the inside of the sump with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Inspect the O-ring for any signs of wear or damage. Replace the O-ring if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring with a food-grade silicone lubricant.
  6. Install New Cartridge: Insert a new, compatible filter cartridge into the sump.
  7. Reattach Sump: Carefully screw the sump back onto the filter head. Hand-tighten, then use the wrench for a final snug turn. Do not overtighten.
  8. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the water supply. Check for leaks.
  9. Flush System: Open a downstream faucet to flush the system for several minutes to remove air and any loose carbon fines (if applicable to the cartridge type).
