2. Setup and Preparation
- Check Fabric Compatibility: Before application, verify that the fiber content of the item to be repaired can withstand the heat setting required for proper adhesion.
- Pre-Wash Garment: Wash the garment or fabric item before applying the patch to ensure a clean surface and optimal adhesion.
- Prepare Iron: Heat a dry iron for approximately 5 minutes on the "Cotton" setting. Ensure no steam is used.
- Cut Patch: Cut the mending fabric patch slightly larger than the area requiring repair. Round the corners of the patch to prevent fraying and improve adhesion. If mending a hole, place a piece of paper underneath the hole before applying the patch to prevent sticking to the ironing surface.

3. Operating Instructions
- Prepare Surface: Work on a firm, protected surface suitable for ironing. Preheat the worn or damaged area of the garment with the iron.
- Position Patch: Place the cut mending patch onto the garment with the shiny side down, directly over the area to be mended.
- Apply Heat and Pressure: Press firmly with the hot iron for 40 to 45 seconds. Ensure even pressure across the entire patch. Finish by pressing around the edges of the patch to secure them.
- Cool and Check: Allow the patch to cool completely. Once cool, check the bond to ensure it is securely attached. If necessary, repeat the pressing process.

4. Maintenance
Once applied, Dritz Iron-On Mending Fabric is designed for durability. It is safe for both machine washing and dry cleaning, allowing for normal garment care. For best results and to maintain the integrity of the repair, follow the care instructions of the garment itself.
5. Troubleshooting
- Patch Not Adhering Properly:
- Ensure the iron is hot enough (set to "Cotton" or higher, if garment allows).
- Apply firm, even pressure for the recommended 40-45 seconds.
- Verify the shiny, adhesive side of the patch is facing down onto the fabric.
- Allow the patch to cool completely before checking the bond. Re-press if needed.
- Edges Peeling After Washing:
- For highly worn items or areas subject to frequent washing, consider stitching around the edges of the iron-on patch after application for added security and longevity.
- Ensure corners were rounded during preparation to minimize lifting.
- Fabric Damage from Heat:
- Always check the garment's fiber content and care label to ensure it can withstand the iron's heat setting. Use a pressing cloth if concerned about direct heat.
