Pyle PSPVC6

Pyle PSPVC6 6-Zone Speaker Selector with Volume Control User Manual

Model: PSPVC6

1. Introduction

The Pyle PSPVC6 is a 6-zone channel speaker switch selector with individual volume control, designed to distribute audio from a multi-channel amplifier to up to six pairs of speakers. This unit allows for independent volume adjustment and on/off control for each speaker zone, providing flexible audio management for various listening environments.

2. Safety Information

  • Ensure all connections are secure before operating the unit.
  • Do not exceed the maximum power handling capacity of 100 watts per channel.
  • Connect only speaker systems with a minimum impedance of 8 ohms to prevent damage to your amplifier. Note: Connecting multiple speaker pairs can lower the overall impedance. Refer to your amplifier's specifications for safe operating impedance ranges.
  • Avoid exposing the unit to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Do not attempt to open or service the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

The front panel features individual volume control knobs for each of the six speaker zones, along with an "ALL SPEAKERS ON/OFF" switch. The rear panel provides speaker terminals for connecting your amplifier and up to six pairs of speakers.

6. Setup and Connections

  1. Prepare Speaker Wires: Strip approximately 1/2 inch (1.2 cm) of insulation from the ends of your speaker wires. Ensure there are no stray wire strands that could cause short circuits.
  2. Connect Amplifier: Connect the speaker output terminals from your amplifier to the "AMPLIFIER INPUT" terminals on the rear of the PSPVC6. Match positive (+) and negative (-) terminals correctly.
  3. Connect Speakers: Connect each pair of speakers to the corresponding "SPEAKER 1" through "SPEAKER 6" output terminals on the rear of the PSPVC6. Maintain correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative).
  4. Power On: The PSPVC6 is a passive device and does not require external power. It draws power directly from your amplifier. Once all connections are made, you can power on your amplifier.

Important Note on Impedance: The PSPVC6 is designed for speaker systems with a minimum impedance of 8 ohms. When connecting multiple speaker pairs, the overall impedance presented to your amplifier will decrease. For example, if all 6 speaker pairs are active, the impedance can drop significantly (e.g., to 1.7 ohms). Ensure your amplifier is capable of safely driving the combined load. Consult your amplifier's manual for its minimum safe operating impedance.

7. Operating Instructions

  1. Turn On/Off All Speakers: Use the "ALL SPEAKERS ON/OFF" switch on the front panel to globally enable or disable all connected speaker zones.
  2. Select Speaker Zone: Each speaker zone (1-6) has an individual ON/OFF switch. Flip the switch to the "ON" position to activate a specific speaker pair.
  3. Adjust Volume: Rotate the corresponding volume knob for each active speaker zone to adjust its output level independently. Turn clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease.
  4. Source Selection (A/B): If your amplifier has A/B speaker outputs, you can connect them to the A and B inputs on the PSPVC6 (if available on your model, verify connections). This allows you to switch between two different audio sources for each speaker zone.

8. Maintenance

  • Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.

9. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No sound from speakers.
  • Amplifier not powered on.
  • Speaker wires incorrectly connected.
  • "ALL SPEAKERS ON/OFF" switch is OFF.
  • Individual zone switch is OFF.
  • Volume knob turned down.
  • Ensure amplifier is on.
  • Check all speaker wire connections for correct polarity and secure fit.
  • Flip "ALL SPEAKERS ON/OFF" switch to ON.
  • Flip individual zone switch to ON.
  • Increase volume using the respective knob.
Distorted sound.
  • Volume too high on amplifier or selector.
  • Incorrect impedance match.
  • Reduce volume on both amplifier and selector.
  • Ensure speakers meet the 8-ohm minimum impedance requirement. Avoid overloading the amplifier by activating too many low-impedance speakers simultaneously.
Sound from only some speakers.
  • Individual zone switch is OFF.
  • Loose speaker wire connection for that zone.
  • Flip the individual zone switch to ON.
  • Check speaker wire connections for the affected zone.
