Setup and Installation

Installation requires only a screwdriver. Follow these steps for proper setup.

Door Preparation:

• Ensure your door thickness is between 1-3/8" and 1-3/4".
• The adjustable latch backset can be set to 2-3/8" or 2-3/4". Adjust the latch by twisting it during installation to match your door's backset.

Installation Steps:

1. Install the latch into the door edge, ensuring the correct backset is selected.
2. Install the exterior lever assembly, feeding the spindle through the latch.
3. Install the interior lever assembly, aligning it with the exterior components.
4. Secure both assemblies with the provided screws.
5. Test the lever operation and locking mechanism.

Reversible Lever Handing:

The Tustin lever is fully reversible and can be installed on both left-handed and right-handed doors without modification.

Operating Instructions

Locking and Unlocking:

• From the Exterior: Insert the key into the keyway and turn to lock or unlock the lever.
• From the Interior: Use the thumb turn on the interior side of the lever to lock or unlock the door.

SmartKey Re-keying Process:

The SmartKey technology allows you to re-key your lock to a new Kwikset key in seconds, without removing the lock from the door.

1. Insert the functioning key fully and turn it 1/4 turn clockwise.
2. Insert the SmartKey learn tool fully and firmly into the SmartKey hole. Remove the SmartKey learn tool.
3. Remove the functioning key.
4. Insert the new key fully and turn it 1/2 turn counter-clockwise.
5. The lock is now re-keyed. Test the new key to ensure proper operation.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

To maintain the finish and functionality of your door handle, clean it regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and internal mechanisms.

Microban Antimicrobial Protection:

This Kwikset door hardware is treated with Microban antimicrobial product protection. This technology continuously works to inhibit the growth of bacteria on the surface, contributing to a cleaner product. This protection is integrated into the finish and does not wear off with normal use.
