- Turn on the device using the Power Button.
- Set the Mode Selector Switch to the Wood/Metal position.
- Place the detector flat against the wall where you wish to scan. Ensure there are no objects directly beneath the sensor area during calibration.
- Press and hold the scan button (often the main power button or a dedicated scan button) until the calibration is complete (usually indicated by a beep or a stable display).
- Slowly slide the detector horizontally across the surface.
- When a stud or metal object is detected, the LCD display will show an indication, and an audible alert will sound. The signal strength bars will increase as you approach the center of the object.
- Mark the edges where the signal begins and ends. The center of the object is typically halfway between these marks.

5.3 Live AC Wire Detection
This mode is specifically designed to detect live (energized) electrical wires behind walls.
- Turn on the device.
- Set the Mode Selector Switch to the Live AC Wire position.
- Place the detector flat against the wall.
- Slowly slide the detector horizontally across the surface.
- When a live AC wire is detected, the LCD display will show a specific icon (e.g., a lightning bolt), a red LED will illuminate, and a distinct audible alert will sound.
- It is crucial to re-scan the area from different angles to confirm the presence and path of live wires.

6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your detector:
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the sensor area is free of dust and debris.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the battery to prevent leakage and store the device in its original packaging or a protective case in a cool, dry place.
