Perky-Pet 336-1SR Squirrel-Be-Gone Bird Feeder Instruction Manual

Model: 336-1SR

Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of your Perky-Pet 336-1SR Squirrel-Be-Gone Bird Feeder. This feeder is designed to attract various wild birds while deterring squirrels through a weight-activated mechanism. Its durable metal construction ensures longevity in outdoor environments.

Setup

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts are present: the feeder body, top lid, and hanging wire.

2. Hanging the Feeder

The feeder includes a metal loop at the top for hanging. Select a sturdy location such as a shepherd's hook, tree branch, roof, deck, or fence. For optimal squirrel deterrence, hang the feeder with at least 18 inches of clearance from any surface that squirrels could use to access it.

3. Filling the Feeder

To fill the feeder, lift the top lid. Pour up to 2 pounds of black-oil sunflower or mixed bird seed into the clear reservoir. The clear reservoir allows for easy monitoring of seed levels. Replace the lid securely after filling.

Operating the Feeder

The Perky-Pet Squirrel-Be-Gone feeder features a weight-activated mechanism. When a bird lands on one of the U-shaped perches, its weight allows the feeding ports to remain open, providing access to the seed. If a squirrel attempts to access the feeder, its heavier weight will cause the outer cage to slide down, closing the feeding ports and preventing the squirrel from reaching the seed.

Maintenance

Cleaning Instructions

To ensure the health of visiting birds, clean the feeder every 2 weeks. Use mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly. Avoid using a dishwasher, as this may damage the feeder's components or finish. Regular cleaning prevents mold and bacterial growth.

Durability

The feeder features a powder-coated metal cage, designed for rust resistance and all-weather durability. This construction helps maintain the feeder's appearance and functionality over time.
