Setup
Before first use, and after each subsequent use, thoroughly clean the syringe. Disassemble the plunger from the barrel. Wash all components with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry completely before reassembly or storage. Ensure all parts are dry to prevent moisture buildup.
Operating Instructions
- Prepare Medication: Ensure the liquid medication is ready for administration. If using a medicine bottle, pour the required dose into a separate medicine cup for easier drawing, as the syringe tip may not fit all bottle openings.
- Draw Medication: Insert the tip of the syringe into the liquid medication. Slowly pull back the plunger until the desired dosage is reached, aligning the bottom edge of the plunger's rubber seal with the correct measurement mark on the syringe barrel.
- Minimize Air Bubbles: To reduce air bubbles, ensure the syringe tip remains submerged in the liquid while drawing. If air bubbles are present, gently tap the syringe to move them to the top, then slowly push the plunger to expel the air back into the medicine cup before re-adjusting the dosage.
- Administer Medication: Position the child comfortably. Place the syringe tip gently into the child's mouth, aiming towards the inner cheek, not directly down the throat. Slowly depress the plunger to dispense the medication gradually, allowing the child to swallow at their own pace.
- Post-Administration: Once the medication is administered, remove the syringe from the child's mouth.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning is essential for hygiene and product longevity. After each use, disassemble the syringe by separating the plunger from the barrel. Wash both parts immediately with warm, soapy water. Use a soft brush if necessary to remove any residue. Rinse thoroughly under running water to remove all soap. Allow the components to air dry completely before reassembling or storing. Avoid harsh cleaning agents or abrasive scrubbers, as these can damage the measurement markings or the plastic material.
Troubleshooting
- Measurements Difficult to Read: The syringe features both printed and engraved markings. If printed markings fade over time, the engraved marks provide a backup. Ensure adequate lighting when measuring.
- Air Bubbles in Syringe: Air bubbles can lead to inaccurate dosing. To minimize, ensure the syringe tip is fully submerged in the liquid when drawing medication. After drawing, hold the syringe upright and gently tap to move bubbles to the top, then slowly push the plunger to expel air before re-adjusting the dose.
- Plunger is Stiff or Hard to Push: Ensure the plunger is correctly aligned within the barrel. A small amount of food-grade lubricant (e.g., vegetable oil) can be applied to the rubber seal of the plunger if stiffness persists, ensuring it is thoroughly cleaned before and after use.
- Syringe Tip Does Not Fit Medicine Bottle: This syringe is designed for general use. If the tip does not fit directly into a medicine bottle, pour the required dose into a clean medicine cup and draw from the cup.
