Setup
1. Battery Installation
The RR-US450 requires two (2) AAA batteries for operation.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide the cover open.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Initial Power On
To power on the device, slide the HOLD switch to the 'unhold' position. The display will illuminate.
3. Connecting to a Personal Computer
Use the included USB cable to connect the recorder to your computer. The device comes with PC software for managing recordings and utilizing speech-to-text functionality. Install the software from the provided CD before connecting the device for the first time.
Operating Instructions
1. Recording Audio
- Ensure the device is powered on.
- Press the REC button to begin recording. The recording indicator will light up.
- The device features a Zoom Microphone for adjusting recording sensitivity.
- To pause recording, press the PAUSE button. Press again to resume.
- To stop recording, press the STOP button.
- The device offers approximately 66 hours of recording time.
2. Playback
- Navigate through your recorded files using the Jog Shuttle control.
- Press the PLAY button to listen to a selected recording.
- Adjust volume using the volume controls.
- Use the Quick Search Dial for rapid navigation within recordings.
3. File Management
- The device supports organizing recordings into folders. Use the FOLDER button to switch between folders.
- To erase a recording, select the file and press the ERASE button. Confirm deletion when prompted.
4. PC Software and Speech-to-Text
The included PC software allows you to transfer recordings to your computer and convert speech to text. Refer to the software's dedicated manual for detailed instructions on its installation and use.
Maintenance
- Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners.
- Store the recorder in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on:
- Ensure batteries are correctly inserted and have sufficient charge. Check the HOLD switch is in the 'unhold' position.
- Cannot transfer files to PC or software does not recognize device:
- Verify the USB cable connection.
- Ensure the PC software and necessary drivers are installed from the original CD. Note: Compatibility issues have been reported with newer operating systems (e.g., Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8) due to potential lack of updated drivers. Panasonic may not provide driver updates for these systems. Retain your original driver disk.
- Try connecting to a different USB port or computer.
- Poor recording quality:
- Check the microphone sensitivity settings. Ensure the microphone is not obstructed. Record in a quiet environment.
