4. How to Play

The game is played over nine "holes" (rounds). The player with the lowest score at the end of nine holes wins. Each player's turn consists of drawing a card, optionally replacing one of their face-down cards, and then discarding a card.

Game Flow:

  1. Starting Player: The player with the lowest card value (determined by a pre-game draw) starts the first round. Play proceeds clockwise.
  2. Draw a Card: At the beginning of your turn, draw one card from either the face-down draw pile or the face-up discard pile.
  3. Replace a Card (Optional): You may choose to replace one of your 8 face-down cards with the card you just drew. Place the new card face-up in your playing area and discard the old card face-up onto the discard pile. If you drew from the discard pile, you must replace a card.
  4. Discard a Card: If you did not replace a card, you must discard the card you just drew onto the discard pile.
  5. Matching Pairs: The goal is to match vertical pairs of cards in your playing area. When two cards in a vertical column have the same value, they are removed from play and score zero points for that column.

Card Values:

  • Cards are numbered from -5 (Hole-in-One) to 12 (Out of Bounds).
  • Lower card values are desirable.

5. Scoring

A round ends when a player has successfully turned all 8 of their cards face-up. Once a player turns their last card face-up, all other players get one final turn.

After all turns are completed for the round, players calculate their score:

  • Add the values of all face-up cards in your playing area.
  • Matched vertical pairs (cards of the same value in a column) score 0 points for that column.
  • Record each player's score for the round on the scorecard.

The game continues for nine rounds (holes). The player with the lowest total score after nine rounds is the winner.
