Setup

Power Supply

The HR-100TM calculator can be powered in two ways:

  • AC Adapter: Connect the provided AC adapter to the calculator's power input port and plug it into a standard electrical outlet. This is recommended for continuous use.
  • Batteries: For portable use, the calculator requires 2 AAA batteries. Open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the unit and insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

Paper Roll Installation

To enable printing, install a paper roll into the designated holder at the top of the calculator. Ensure the paper feeds smoothly into the printing mechanism.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operations

The Casio HR-100TM features a user-friendly layout with clearly marked keys for various functions.

Power On/Off and Print Control

Locate the slide switch on the left side of the calculator, labeled "OFF ON PRINT ITEM CONVERSION".

  • Slide to "ON" for basic calculation without printing.
  • Slide to "PRINT" to activate the printing function for all calculations.
  • Slide to "OFF" to turn off the calculator.

Keypad and Display

The large, 12-digit LCD display provides clear visibility of numbers and results. The large-key layout is designed for comfortable and accurate input.

Special Functions

The HR-100TM includes several specialized functions for business calculations:

  • Tax Calculations: Use the dedicated TAX+ and TAX- keys to easily add or subtract tax from a value.
  • Cost/Sell/Margin: Utilize the COST, SELL, and MAR keys to perform profit margin calculations.
  • Markup/Markdown: The MU/MD key allows for quick markup and markdown calculations.
  • Item Count: The IT key provides an item count for entries.
  • Feed: Press the FEED button to advance the paper roll.

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the calculator's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.

Paper Roll Replacement

When the paper roll runs out, replace it with a new thermal paper roll of the appropriate size. Refer to the paper roll holder for guidance.

Ink Ribbon Replacement

If the print becomes faint or illegible, the ink ribbon may need replacement. Consult the full user manual for detailed instructions on replacing the ink ribbon cartridge.

Troubleshooting

Display is blank or dim

  • Check if the AC adapter is securely connected and plugged into a live outlet.
  • If using batteries, ensure they are correctly inserted and not depleted. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Verify the "OFF ON PRINT" switch is set to "ON" or "PRINT".

Printer is not printing or print is faint

  • Ensure the "OFF ON PRINT" switch is set to "PRINT".
  • Check if the paper roll is correctly installed and not jammed.
  • The ink ribbon may need to be replaced.

Incorrect calculations

  • Ensure correct input of numbers and operations.
  • Verify that the decimal point setting (F, 5/4, ADD2, 0, 2, 3) is appropriate for your calculations.
  • Clear any previous calculations by pressing the 'C' (Clear) button.
