2. Operating Instructions
2.1 Recording Conversations
- Automatic Recording (Line Activated): The recorder is designed to begin recording automatically when a telephone call is initiated or received. This mode is active by default when the device is properly connected to the telephone line.
- Manual Recording: To manually start recording a conversation, press the RECORD button during a call. To stop manual recording, press the STOP button. Manual recording can be initiated silently without audible clicks.
- Slow Speed Recording: For extended recording time, activate the slow speed mode. This allows for over 5 hours of recording on a standard C-120 cassette. Consult the device's specific controls for engaging slow speed mode, typically a switch labeled 'SP/LP' or 'Normal/Slow'.
2.2 Playback
- Starting Playback: Press the PLAY button to listen to recorded conversations.
- Stopping Playback: Press the STOP button to end playback.
- Fast Forward/Rewind: Use the FFWD and REW buttons to navigate through the tape.
- Volume Adjustment: Adjust the playback volume using the dedicated volume control dial or buttons.
2.3 Caller ID Display
- The built-in LCD panel displays incoming and outgoing telephone numbers, the caller's name (if available), and the time and date of each call.
- This information is also stored on the cassette alongside the audio recording and can be displayed again when reviewing the tape.
3. Maintenance
- Cleaning the Device: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the recorder. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Cassette Head Cleaning: Periodically clean the tape heads with a specialized cassette head cleaning kit to ensure optimal recording and playback quality.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the recorder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the cassette tape to prevent pressure marks on the tape.
