Setup

Battery Installation

The BDL190S requires 2 AA batteries, which are included with the unit. To install or replace batteries:

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
2. Slide the cover open.
3. Insert 2 AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Operating Instructions

Stud Finding

The integrated stud sensor detects wood and metal studs behind drywall. The easy-to-read LCD display indicates when a stud edge is found and helps pinpoint the center.

1. Place the unit flat against the wall where you suspect a stud.
2. Press and hold the power button. The unit will calibrate automatically.
3. Slowly slide the unit horizontally across the wall.
4. When an edge of a stud is detected, the LCD will display "EDGE" and emit a beeping sound. Mark this point.
5. Continue sliding past the stud until the "EDGE" indicator disappears, then slide back from the other direction to find the opposite edge of the stud. Mark this second point.
6. The center of the stud is approximately halfway between the two marked edges.

Auto-Leveling Line Laser

The patented BullsEye auto-leveling technology projects a precise horizontal laser line for accurate alignment of items like pictures or shelves.

1. Ensure the unit is powered on.
2. Place the unit against the wall at the desired height. The unit will automatically level the laser line.
3. The laser projects a sharp, crisp horizontal line on the wall.
4. Use the projected line as a guide for hanging or mounting.

A/C Wire Detection

The unit can detect live A/C wires, providing an additional safety measure before drilling.

• While scanning for studs or simply moving the unit across the wall, observe the A/C wire detection indicator (a red light with a lightning bolt symbol).
• If the red light flashes or remains solid red, it indicates the presence of a live A/C wire behind the wall at that location.
• Avoid drilling or cutting in areas where A/C wires are detected.

• A/C Wire Detection "Spotty": For improved A/C wire detection, try placing your free hand flat on the wall near the unit to provide better grounding.
• Faint Laser Line: The laser line is most visible in lower light conditions. In bright environments or direct sunlight, visibility may be reduced. Try to dim the room lights if possible.
• Unit Not Powering On: Check battery orientation and ensure batteries are fresh. Replace if necessary.
